    One Year With Snus

Haven't posted here in a while, but still snusing. So some thoughts...

It's coming up on a year now since I started with snus. Except for one week a couple months in where I smoked a couple cigarettes a day, and a half a cigarette a few months after that (it tasted so foul I couldn't finish it), I have been smoke free.

And I couldn't be happier about that fact. So very relieved to be free of the stress involved with smoking, knowing it was hurting me and knowing I had to quit, the smell, and all that stuff. I can say without exaggeration that snus has improved my life greatly.

So here's the bit for anyone curious about trying it to switch from cigarettes:

Yes, it works. Give it time. You will see eventually that it will not only replace cigarettes, but you'll find it superior. With very little effort. Very little, but some. You do have to want to make the switch.

    Don't stress about it.

Try out as many as you can. You'll find something that clicks for you.

    The downsides?

Ordering snus from the U.S. is kind of a pain. Every time I order, my bank puts a fraud alert on my card, which I have to clear before I can place the order. (Your bank, of course, may be different.) I only place an order every couple of months, though, so it's not a huge deal.

Teeth get stained from tobacco. Probably not quite as much as from smoking, but still happens. Have to be diligent about whitening. Or just not care, I guess.

Still very occasionally want a smoke, like once a month or so. Only putting this in there for completeness. It's really not a big issue. It comes and goes away in a minute without any stress about it. I know that if I have that cigarette, I'll only hate it. They taste and smell like complete crap now. Or they always did, but now I realize it. That's one of the great things about snus; you can have that smoke if you really want. It won't won't "ruin your quit". More than likely, you'll just see how much better snus is, and wonder why you bothered.

Cant' think of any others, really.

Unlike a lot of folks here, who are continually trying new snus and use a lot of different kinds, I hit upon a couple that I liked fairly soon and have stuck with them. (Granit Los and Thunder Frosted Mini.)

Loose snus took some time to get the hang of, but it was worth it in the end.

Anyway, thanks for this forum and thank you to the helpful members here.

awesome post, thanks for sharing. It's good to see that your experience is similar to mine many, many years ago. It tells me that and anyone that reads it, Swedish snus will work for anyone wanting to quit smoking.

I STILL crave a cigarette from time to time, and when those times occur...I have one, but after that first drag, I too realize "how did I do this for 22 years?" and put it out. For me now, these times are fewer and fewer...can't think of the last time I took a puff of a cigarette now, maybe last year sometime? I was drunk...I remember that, LMAO.

Anyway...thanks for posting this and I hope that every new snus user reads it.

cool post and congrats. i'm sure others will find some of your experiences/advise helpful. On the white teeth try some TillCe in your mix, zero drip and has baking soda which might help clean up some of the stains over time. Agree 100% on the smoking, you can have the random cigarette if you are a regular snuser and not ruin your quit. Haven't heard that expression before but that states it perfectly.

Same here, sometimes I smoke a cigarette - expecially when I'm drinking I crave for it. But I find it really gross, I can't even finish it. I think there's no risk at all of starting again.

I quit smoking like 2 weeks ago using snus, I didn't have a smoke until last saturday. I was out for drinks and well... smoking is not only the nic craving, it is also the act of smoking (lighting it up, watch it slowly burn, exhaling the smoke, sharing a cigarette with someone) so I smoked a lot.

As you say, the good thing about snus is that even if one day you smoke, you can continue using snus the next day without even thinking about a cigarette.

              Congratulations!

yeah, that first drag is like.."ahhhh, hello old friend" and then all the subsequent drags are like..."holy shit this tastes terrible, how'd I do this for so long?"

Well, I haven't smoked since that day but the next day I did feel terrible: my clothes and skin stinked, my lungs were in pain, dry mouth, had trouble breathing, etc.

Snus is ineed a much better way to consume nicotine, none of the side effects of smoking. I really hope you're right and the next time I smoke a cigarette (which I will eventually do) it'll taste terrible

Well I'm on day nine myself, pretty good so far. It's tough but worth it. My wife misses her smoking buddy but no thanks in my end

I"m two weeks in myself. I've been vaping for 14 months and typically went through 5-6mls of 6mg & 12mg juice a day. So yeah, the thing was glued to my face all day and still wanted cigarettes constantly. Snus has more or less killed those cravings and is far more enjoyable for me.

I tried vaping and still do some vaping on occasion but man doing so on any regular basis can leave me feeling anxious/racey plus having to pick-up, push button, and put down again is damn annoying. Much prefer hands free and the level feeling that snus delivers.

Same here, even with WTA liquid i still was constantly anxious and edgy. It was frustrating because no matter how much juice i vaped i never really got that calm satisfaction. It kept my from smoking cigarettes, but after the honeymoon phase i didnt really enjoy it. It was more like "well, i mean i guess its better than smoking." So in conclusion its not the habit, its tobacco and all of its chemical components that i like.

Honestly im done with my PV for now and feel good about it. Works for some people but not so much for me. If i really need a puff, I have a few Acid Blondies in the humidor.
