    Phantom dilemma

So, I posted that glowing review of Phantom classic the other day, and I was really digging it; but yesterday I baked a big fat pris of the stuff, and it had this really odd NutraSweet flavor that totally turned me off! I fought through the flavor for like 35 minutes to get some nic out of it and ditched the pris with a bewildered look to boot! I don't understand how something that could be that good on Tuesday could be that nasty on Friday. I'm really distraught, because I really WANT to like it again. It's such a good value and I'm still convinced that the flavor is much better than I tasted on Friday. I don't know, maybe I'll just give the Phantom a rest for a couple days and check it out again next week.

Snus does that man. been in your shoes.

Phantom is great as is offroad los imho.

I have a similar delima. I loved my salty ettan los i had last week and just opened another can.

Now i can not taste anything and the snus seems dry.

But i have a pris in now and its tastes the same now as the first can but it took like 6-10 prillas of this new can before i got to the taste i was hoping for.

I hear you, man. I'm having the same dilemma with OR cranberry los. it's really good, but it makes the back of my throat really scratchy, and the juice is really tart. I'm starting to think the only snus I consistently like is General los. I could honestly order 3 rolls of the stuff and be satisfied, I think. I'm looking forward to trying roda lacket and ettan, though. Interesting fact about roda lacket, it translates to "Red Seal"...no coincidence, however, whoever tried to replicate the stuff over here must have had one too many...have you ever dipped red seal? Blech!

Nah never tried red seal snuff.

I was a Copenhagen SNuff man until Redman snuff came out and that was all i ever used

Your taste buds finally came to life ;^) That's my biggest beef with the V2 snus'. They have a peculiar sweetness that I really don't dig. It isn't as noticeable in the lös as it is in the portions, but it's still there.

nah, that couldn't be it...I've only been snusing for like, 3 weeks...I - I'm not ready!

Seriously though, I would hate to have to get stuck paying for Swedish Match quality if I didn't have to. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loves my General, but it IS expensive.

All snus is dirt cheap. I buy solely based on flavor. If one of those happens to be cheaper, that's a nice bonus, but even Montecristo lös is a bargain compared to what I use to pay *handrolling* cigarettes. Give the Phantom a rest for awhile and come back to it. Sometimes you just burn out on snus for a bit.

My cheap snus recommendation is LD Red lös. It's one of my favorites regardless of price.

Ix gives great advice. If you burn out on a flavor, switch it up a bit. Everyone knows what my 3-flavor rotation is by now so there is no need to repeat it.

As far as LD Red goes, definately worth a taste.

thanks. I just placed an order with buysnus today; a loose mix bag and a prismaster. I'm hoping it gets here soon, though, as I only have 6 cans left...well, I have 6 cans that I haven't finished yet. If I consolidated them all, I'd probably have 4. I hope I don't get caught up in that big shipping delay that I've been reading about. I don't know if my "reserves" could hold out 3 weeks. Maybe 1.5...maybe...

The shipping delay seems to have affected orders around Aug. 15th that shipped on the 18th... An order I placed on the 22nd arrived in about 5 days...

Is there an emoticon for a huge sigh of relief? I'd honestly be thrilled to receive my order by friday. My first order got here in like, 3 days, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I agree with the LD, but it's the hardest to bake snus I've come across so far.

Just an update on my Phantom situation, I had been using Knox los for several days (one whose flavor doesn't seem to get old, by the way), and spied my can of Phantom this afternoon lounging in my refrigerator. Despite the thought of a pris of Knox making my mouth water, I relented and grabbed the Phantom. I had a pleasant surprise when I opened the can. An appetizing aroma of tobacco and a rich, herbal, citrus smell greeted me when I cracked it open, and upon putting the pris in, I experienced that same elation as the first time I tried it. I've been using it ever since, and about 3 pris' later, it's still delicious. I don't know why this happens with some snus, but I'll definitely think twice before losing my cool over not loving my los every time I bake it.

Sometimes it just isn't right for the moment. I've poured myself a glass of whisky that I normally love, and it's exactly the wrong thing at the time for me. 2 days later and it's perfect again :^/ Who knows? people are weird :^D

I can guarantee that that is a statement that certainly applies to me!
