I have had two envelopes in the past couple of weeks. I always order through BuySnus and have never, ever had any kind of problem with customs. They break my orders up into two or three packages of 5 cans and they come through in as little as a week.

My most recent order, however, was a different story. A roll of Oden's Extra Stark, plus a couple of extra single cans, in three envelopes, posted within a day of one another. First package came through three weeks ago. The second and third have both been caught by Customs, and I have received two letters: one asking for $70 (which I paid, reflexively, like an idiot, because I thought it was for 9 tins and figured that was reasonable), and then a second, for however much (it's at a different address and I haven't been there to check the letter yet). So the $70 was for either 5 or 4 tins (I'm hoping 5 but suspect 4).

I don't know about you guys, but I can't afford $14 of duty/tax/tariffs on a $6 can of snus. Not when I'm getting 10 tins at a time, anyway. Maybe if I could buy it in the shop I would be less angry about a $20 can of snus (since it lasts me about 3x longer than a pack of cigarettes, which is about $20 anyway), but when I'm probably going to have to pay, what, nearly $200 in tax for a roll of snus, all in one hit? The hell with that.

I'm going to try Snusline as I understand they package their stuff a little differently and that it has a higher likelihood of getting through customs. Anybody able to verify that? No Swedish Match, but I could handle moving to Skruf as it's not bad, and of course they still have Oden's which is okay too.

The other thing I was considering is maybe ditching the tobacco altogether (I used snus to quit smoking, and it worked beautifully and instantaneously), but I'll have to wean myself gradually, and I wondered if anybody had any experience with any of the tobacco- and nicotine-free snus brands, like Onico and Qvitt and so forth?

My third option is to just go right back onto RYO cigarettes. I can get American Spirit from Tobaccoblends.com.au for the same price as a pouch of Champion, and it's a superior smoke. But I'd really rather not start smoking again.

Man, this is such a pain in the arse.

What do you chaps and chapettes reckon?

That's rough luck. It's a shame that the government makes life so hard. I heard they cracked down on e-cigs too.

Five or six years ago I was given two free cans of Onico. I hated it. I've still got one can left in the freezer. I really should throw it out.

I've read good things about Snusline too.

Yeah, my understanding is they are cracking down on the e-cigs and nicotine juice as well. But at the same time, hilariously, our useless knobhead government is considering repealing the plain packaging laws for cigarettes and cigars etc.

That seems silly. Dead people have trouble paying taxes.

I suspect that the Right Wing, penny pinching,Fundamentalist Christian Government we have now,may have something to do with this nonsense.

Sounds to me like the Aussies have a great Big Tobacco lobby at work...........somebody wants harm reduction out.....and cigarettes in

When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
