I can't go into bars anymore... the smell of the cigarette smoke makes me gag... not to mention how the smell sticks to your hair and shirt. Whenever I'm around cigarette smoke for an extended period, I have to take a shower and change my cloths ASAP. Snus has allowed me to be smoke free for over six years... thank God I discovered it.

I smoked my own blend of tobacco, and underwent the same empty craving even while smoking! Nicotine addiction is one of the worst, and the cig companies exploit it by manipulating the additives to promote that spike of nicotine.
My absolute best advice is to smoke only Santa Fe cigarettes when you do cave in, they will not reinforce the cycle. This will help decouple the reward response, due to the slower delivery provided by unadulterated tobacco.
Agree on that front, if you smoke occasionally smoke a natural tobacco with no additives, like Santa Fe, or roll your own with natural tobacco and fsc free tubes and for the national brands American Spirit. Pretty amazing the difference smoking additive free vs standard commercial brands less after effects, burns slower, and satisfies much longer. Also, I have come to prefer the steady satisfaction that snus provides, so there is no real pull to smoke. I just smoke from time to time in social situations and I enjoy but no way would I want or desire to have cigarettes as my go to.

The bars in our area are smoke free so not an issue but man I hate the smell as well.

just don't beat yourself up. I knwo we talked about diet but if I can make one recommendation it woudl be to use cocunut oil and cut out gluten from your diet for 30 days and see if that helps with the stress and anxiety.

dude I went thru a rough patch once where I was bombarded from all fronts, health, financial, marriage, man I was plain depressed bottom rung, if not for the kids who knows...but man, now feeling back to myself it is like wow who was that person who felt that way and how could I ever felt that way. Right now you are looking thru a broken filter once the filter is cleaner you will see things in the proper perspective.

Very well put. IMO, that's what keeps you addicted.

Smoking is like a crazy ex-girlfriend. It's easy to remember the good times with her, and miss what you liked about her. But, you know that she's bad for you in the long run, and that you can't go back.

Well you might go back but her power is gone in the long run. She will be a one night stand from time to time at best but the marriage days are over.

Yeah thanks everyone. i feel a lot better now . I thought that those two puffs would make me have to start all over again but it seems i feel fine today
I certainly don't feel like smokng. Maybe i just have to do this for a while until i realise that snus its quite enough, thankyou. I feel like that today . I suppose a couple of puffs on a cig every 3 months isn't the end of the world in terms of health and my brain just get bored after a while leave me to snus in peace! I must be really sensitive to the cigs or something cos that was two days ago and my body still feels a bit shell shocked by the experience

I always take tight chest as a sign your body is trying to heal. I have heard many smokers just say to smoke thru the tight chest and it will feel better but what that does is override the healing process and prevents lungs from rebounding. I would look at a supplement like this or similar to help the process..... http://www.whyherbalremedies.com/asthma-aid. No kidding. How about using that as a reason not to light the next one.

I agree tight/sore chest could be a warning sign of heart issues or irritated lungs ...either way don't smoke and listen to your body DON'T try numbing the pain with more smoking.

This. Happened to me after several hours of going without a cigarette. Fire up a camel and it would go away. The best was when it would wake me up at 2am and felt like i couldnt catch my breath, that was about it for me and was time to find something else.
