    Recommendations needed

I'm looking for some recommendations on both ends of the moisture content snus scale.

I used to dip occasionally and I'm still in the process of quitting smoking. Doing pretty well actually from a pack + to 5 or less a day because of snus is an accomplishment in my book.

What I'm looking for is some of your preferences on extremely moist snus (that possibly for ex dippers) still makes you want to spit, and the complete opposite (dry portions/white portions) that barely has any drip for work or occasions spitting it's not an option.
I like portions a lot, but lose also has its place. I wish portions were fatter actually.

I'm struggling very bad finding a loose that doesn't break up when you lower deck it and that I genuinely like the taste of and I've tried quite a bit already. The Portions are fine upper deck but Los is not going up there for me.

Hopefully someone with more experience understands what I'm talking about and can shed a few tips and recommendations.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, there's a reason why the upper deck is used for snus.

Lower decking anything will cause more salivating and thus the need to expectorate. In addition to that, even if you put a white portion there it'll juice up. You'll also notice that when you lower deck los you'll put in a wad...usually a big wad like one would with dip (or at least I did). more snus = more drip, etc.

If you upper deck los try to use an amount similar to one gram. Of course, you can get that "fuller" feeling by using more but it'll tend to break up and fall down if you do. YMMV.

I like Grov white for dry. As I remember Tre Ankare is wicked dry and pretty good too. Try a long-cut snus such as Thunder in los form, that I found very moist and more like dip without that sweet flavor. I didn't like it so much as a snus but I can see how people might like it.

Another interesting experiment is to take about a gram of dip and upper deck it. You'll be amazed that with that amount you'll still get a decent enough nic hit to make it a viable way to use dip and you won't have the need to spit. Just use it like you would snus and it works the very same. if you mess around a play with it it'll juice up and swallowing massive amounts of dip juice will make anyone's stomach turn, IMO.

SNUS, both los and portions have been carefully crafted to be used in the upper lip. Using los in the lower lip defeats the design. The fine grind is done for a reason. I can see that transitioning from dip would be quite a bit of adjustment, but for the most part, snus is designed to be spitless.

This probably sounds stupid to non smokers but the act of spitting gives me something to do other than puffing on the cigarette. Adjustment to just putting the snus in there and being done with it has been tough because of smoking.

And I know this sounds odd, but if I lower deck on the back right corner of my mouth I really don't get much drip at all. I'm an alien I guess.

No, I totally understand the habits that accompany each of the uses of tobacco, and i understand how those little things go missing when changing up! Very natural, and a hard thing to get over.

I used to dip, found Jakobsons strong mint and Thunder strong cool mint fit the lower lip and make plenty of "spit". Also used them to change over to snus from Kodiak or Grizzly. My mouth and teeth are much healthier.

The wettest loose I've ever had was Offroad Silver loose. It balled together like a turd in the tin. I don't know how it would work in the lower deck but that is the wettest I've ever seen. The biggest problem that I had with it is that it tastes awful to me.

You can always add a few drops of distilled water to any snus too.

Was going to suggest Offroad Wintergreen long cut, but it appears it isn't sold anymore.

For a larger portion you can still get Granit Maxi Portions, but that's the only one still making big pouches.

I original came from smoking, decided to never go back, then started on Grizzly and Skoal wintergreen pouches. Then I found snus and did snus/dip for quite awhile. After some time, I used the dip less and less since I increasingly found myself not wanting to worry about a spitter. Now I just buy a can of Grizz every once in awhile for the hell of it. Usually end up throwing half the can away as it dries out.
