    Odens Extreme manufacturing process

Let me begin by saying I know there are some other threads about this. However I'm not satisfied with my research thus far.

Anyways I love Odens. In my opinion it's excellent. I'm having a hard time finding information that it is as safe as fully pasteurized snus. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me conclusive evidence. I found many links from 2011 but I would like something more recent.

    Much appreciated.

i remember reading that the snus was fermented in some cases - maybe all?- but that the tsna's were still at a level comparable to swedish match products . How this is possible i don't know, neither do I care . I used to smoke so its about a hundred times better either way

I thought that was only for the olde ving ginger/lime. I think I remember reading that on a post Chadizzy did reviewing the old ginger lime.

The Islay Whisky is definitely fermented ... I asked the question on it's own thread and the answer from Connie Andersson was that it is fermented for the flavours ... by choosing the right leaf the TSNAs can still be kept to a minimum ... but not necessarily as low as some of the other brands. It would appear to be a choice between flavour and the limits of tobacco safety. And I am happy with that as long as I have all the information.

The impressions I got from reading most forums is that all Odens products are fermented.

I know that some dip brands like Timber Wolf, Redman, Longhorn (all Swedish match products) are fermented and report a TSNA level of 5 that does not elevate with shelf life (for perspective- dip levels in the past were in the 100s....... snus is around 2)

The point is that the difference in levels between a GN snus and say a Swedish Match snus like General are probably negligible and inconsequential.

I knew Timberwolf was swedish match but longhorn as well? As far back as i can remember those were both pretty terrible budget brands. Timberwolf felt more like I was stuffing shreded tree branches in my mouth and longhorn felt more like decaf coffee grounds.

If I am not mistaken Longhorn Readman and Timberwolf are all made by Pinkerton.....a subsidiary of SM........regardless all are SM

After years with snus dip seems gummy sweet and cheaply crafted........With Copenhagen it is like you have to suck through the candy coating to get to a unimpressive tobacco base......and there is still that something other than nicotine at work.........that said.......if I had to choose a dip.......right now it would be Timberwolf. .....I think the approximation to the snus process that SM dip has implemented and the low TSNA counts make it palatable emergency substitute for snus.........like a bud lite when the bar is out of......well.......real beer

I agree with all of that - dip holds a certain attraction for me if it's at the less sweet and natural end of the range. However it gives me a kind of dirty, buzzy kind of satisfaction whereas snus just hits the spot straight away. I don't know what it is that they put in dip that makes it do that.

100% agree......I dont know what it is either but Ive been saying for years here that it is something. .......the snus "buz" just has a cleaner and more straight forward feel about it if that makes sense. .......plus the sweet gummy coating on dip make the spit nauseatingly thick

Chews like Red Man or Levi tend to turn my saliva into corn syrup. I guess its the molasses. Its a shame too, becuase i do enjoy them occasionaly but after 10 minutes or so i cant take the pasty feeling in my mouth anymore.
