Well in response to it being sweet, if you had any of the long cut redman blends then its either wintergreen or straight.

Now i have no clue as to why tobacco companies here consider a sugar sweet candy taste a straight tobacco flavor.

Natural on the other hand is fine cut and is not sweet at all. Thats why it replaced copenhagen for me.

Now i would imagine it messes your mouth up more because of how abrasive the texture of dip is.

Its not fluffy or soft at all. Its almost like sand grains ( just an analogy ) so it will do more abrasive damage to the gum if you play with dip in your gums as I did.

I also found that with dip i would only leave it in about 30-45 mins then spit it out and repeat 10 mins later or so.

I would go through a can of dip in 2 days and had buddies that would finish a can a day.

So overall my opinion is that more frequent use, more abrasive texture and some chemicals not found in snus contribute to more gum damage from American Snuff.

Well, this thread got me interested, so I popped over to my local "El Cheapo" (yeah, it's really called El Cheapo...) and bought a can of fine cut natural. I'm looking forward to opening it tomorrow at work.
