    Lip placement.

I can't remember if I read this anywhere before, so I will ask it.

I remember when I first started snusing, people told me to switch sides when I snus. I have been snusing for a year or two, and always throw it in the same place, same side. Is this normal for a snuser, or am I the weird one?

The reason I ask is because after a year or so on snusing, it becomes a reflex. (need nicotine, throw in a snus). I snus on the right side. I had my right hand in use carrying something, so I used my left hand to open my tin and just used my tongue to grab a portion, and slipped it in my LEFT side. I WAS SHOCKED, because for the first time in forever, i felt the snus burn. I quickly corrected the side with my tongue, and went along as nothing happened. I had a brain fart, because i never snus there. It has been in the same side since I started.

I want to know everybody's way of snusing. The newbies, do you switch sides? Long time snus users, do you snus in one spot only? The reason I ask is because I used to dip, and my lip used to be MESSED UP, and I switched possition with dip constantly. But never with snus.

    Thanks.

I thought a lot about which side to use at first. I determined that I would probably use my left side, for various reasons. Okay, there's almost nowhere else I can talk about this, so it has to do with right-brain dominance. I seem to be right-brain dominant, and generally the way humans are wired, the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side of the body, and the left hemisphere controls the anus. (Just kidding.) Although I am right-handed, I am also left-eye dominant, and my left hand is more flexible than my right in various ways (doing the Vulcan salute and drumming the fingers being two examples). Somehow this tied in to my decision to snus on the left side, but five years down the line I don't remember my reasoning As time went by, though, I found myself using the right side more often than not. These days I mostly alternate, although I don't do it militantly (I do keep track, being so very OCD). Mostly I will just use whichever side seems "lonely", or not use a side if it seems to need a break. Also if I'm switching flavors over a wide gap (Kronan to Ettan or something), or los to portion or whatever, I will change sides.

Oh, yeah, something else I've noticed since I've started using los again (long story there). It's sometimes nice to place a smaller amount--say 75% of a prilla or so--in each side at the same time. "Double barrel", as they say, but not quite as strong or expensive as doing it with portions. This is fun with coffee. In fact, right now I have been inspired to a new madness--Grov in one side and Ettan in the other, with coffee. Oops. This belongs on a different thread, I guess.

I never thought about double barrel. I am going to try switching it around as well. I always get frusterated with taste swapping. I snus CONSTANTLY, so flavor transfer always sucks.

I chain snus, too. The worst taste-swapping experience I had recently was after a portion of Kronan. I put in a prilla of Ettan and it just tasted ... bad. I have a bunch of Kronan, too. I guess I'll just have to go all-Kronan one day, to see if I can stand it.

The worst taste swap that I had was Islay whiskey to lab 13. HORRIBLE. Put I actually like Islay to Probe. (almost the same taste... but now I am stuck on Röda Lacket loose. GREAT stuff. I think I have found my go to.

I have had Probe, but never Islay. I like Röda too, and have tons of that, happily.

I am completely OCD about alternating sides. I just need to feel balanced, I guess.

I tried it for a day, but I am so used to putting it one one side, once I got busy at work, I forgot to switch sides.
