I find i have a really hard time satisfying myself, i can snus a particular brand for weeks and feel like something is off. Slow, depressed, unmotivated etc but with no nicotine withdrawals(?) i'll snus less and less because i feel like it's not even working. Just today i went back to knox and didn't feel anything change after a couple of pouches, i started to feel like myself again. Is there a reason for this? I was on a Benzo for about a month so sometimes i think it's the benzo causing the snus not to work or something. What is this? NEED HELP :encouragement:
Difficulty staying satisfied?

Do you guys have this problem or does any snus work? I've heard tolerance isn't really an issue, that it's easy to go from sterks to minis and so on. Maybe its the benzo..

Regular strength usually works for me. When it doesn't, I go ES.

Or do you guys think it's because of snusing the cheaper brands? Havent had a good economy lately so i've been snusing cheap stuff, i used to snus General portions. If most stuff works for you guys it's probably the benzo.. i'll be glad to find the reason for it.

Are you now off the benzo? Maybe you're system's returning to normal. Also, a few years ago when I first joined SnusOn, guys (and a few gals) talked now and then about snus "turning" on them. Mostly I think they were referring to a particular brand or variety becoming disagreeable to them, but I guess it could manifest itself as a snus just no longer satisfying you. That might have even been what some of them meant, I'm not sure. I guess if the General long is working for you and it fits within your budget, stick with it. Another thing to try (I'm a fine one to offer this advice) might be spacing out the snuses. The, ah, few times I've tried this, that next snus sure tastes good

Tolerance is not immunity. What snus tolerance means is that after a while nicotine no longer provides a rush (or buzz).......instead it maintains a balance in your system..........therefore not having it results in craving........having it results in equilibrium.
If you are still having cravings or not satisfied with a snus in in all likelihood it is the medication. However, you might try a baby ES (Skruf, prob.....something with a bit more nic but maybe not the full blast of some of the extra extra starks out there).
Keep us posted though and let us know what you find......you never know how your experience might help someone reading this thread in the futureWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Thanks for the replies guys!
I remember a couple of months back i used to take L-theanine and i noticed that the pleasure started to go away and heres what it says about the interaction with nicotine if any one else is interested:
"In this study, the inhibitory effect of L-theanine, an amino acid derivative of tea, on the rewarding effects of nicotine and its underlying mechanisms of action were studied. We found that L-theanine inhibited the rewarding effects of nicotine in a conditioned place preference (CPP) model of the mouse and reduced the excitatory status induced by nicotine in SH-SY5Y cells to the same extent as the nicotine receptor inhibitor dihydro-beta-erythroidine (DHβE). Further studies using high performance liquid chromatography, western blotting and immunofluorescence staining analyses showed that L-theanine significantly inhibited nicotine-induced tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) expression and dopamine production in the midbrain of mice. L-theanine treatment also reduced the upregulation of the α(4), β(2) and α(7) nicotine acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) subunits induced by nicotine in mouse brain regions that related to the dopamine reward pathway, thus decreasing the number of cells that could react to nicotine. In addition, L-theanine treatment inhibited nicotine-induced c-Fos expression in the reward circuit related areas of the mouse brain. Knockdown of c-Fos by siRNA inhibited the excitatory status of cells but not the upregulation of TH induced by nicotine in SH-SY5Y cells. Overall, the present study showed that L-theanine reduced the nicotine-induced reward effects via inhibition of the nAChR-dopamine reward pathway. These results may offer new therapeutic strategies for treatment of tobacco addiction."
After that i was snusing like usual but still felt something was missing, then i got on the benzo - after that i have been trying out alot of brands, mostly cheap ones. I found 0% satisfaction from it, got general long today (it has 0.95% nicotine) and i felt this satisfying sensation creep up, i'll keep snusing it and see how it goes but L-theanine/benzo could of messed something up with the acetylocholine/dopamine pathways. I was tolerant to the buzz/rush before but i still got a satisfaction from every pouch. Maybe i really do need some sterks to bump my receptors up again perhaps... i might of gotten satisfaction from the long because it has slightly higher nicotine than the others.Last edited by necrobytez; 05-11-14, 06:15 PM.
