I am anti smoking, but just because of the health. Then again, this is why I am so pro smokeless tobacco. THAT being said. Before entering a conversation with a smoker about switching, I only bring it up if they see me snus. I tell them about the lowered risk first. Throw in the "Swedish Experience" stats, then then tell them that after 15 years I quit smoking. This usually follows with more questions. But I never go and tell them what every ex smoker has heard when smoking. As a smoker, we have all heard it before... If you do not want to quit. You will not quit. But if they are willing to listen about our habbit, they could possibly switch over.
It is also like having a small child. They will always try something if you say no. Give them a positive, and not a negitive. Not QUIT SMOKING, but start snusing.
