R.J. Reynolds and Altria still make snus, and I've seen General fridges in every High's, 7-Eleven, and Sheetz around here. Granted I live in northern Maryland, but it seems to have carved a niche. A guy I went to school with snuses, and a couple others I've seen do too.

According to a gas station attendant that I spoke with today, apparently Camel "snus" sells really well. And Marlboro still makes theirs, but she said no one has bought any since she's worked there.Originally posted by FrostedI knew he was committed as an actor but I think he went too far in his latest role as Princess Diana

Here in southeast Wisconsin finding a general fridge in any particular gas station has about a 35% probabilty. I buy a can every so often when they're marked way down to a dollar a can, but full price here is around (and sometimes over) 6 bucks a can. Tin of Grizzly will run you maybe 5 bucks tops.
I was super excited when General was being introduced to the market. I've never liked much of their stuff, but thought if it caught on, it could be an in-road to brands I WOULD actually buy like Offroad or Odens.
What I've seen was an early, mild interest that has flagged as time has gone on. People didn't know what it was when it came out, and still don't know what it is. I've had people ask for a pouch at work and, even after explaining that it's spitless and to upper lip it and WHY, they still lower lip it like it's Grizzly anyways.
The only way that I see General or any other swedish style snus gaining traction or becoming something you see in every gas station, is if they DO receive the "harm reduction" stamp. But last I remember hearing, they didn't even have a process or committee yet to even START the approvals. And like someone else said, the tax hungry governments riding the coattails of the 'for the children' ****ers will most likely have their way in this anyhow.

I think it depends...I was able, with the help of Rick (don't see him much anymore!!!) to get a local tobacconist to carry General, Thunder, and Jaks Mint/Wintergreen/Classic. He does well with it, and is always telling me weekly how some new customer came in and bought a roll or two. I think it all depends on who is carrying the snus. He certainly has no problems selling through his shipments of snus.

General advertises that they sell Original, White portions, and Mints all over. I can't find find any Original in a General Fridge anywhere near me, at several stores that sell General. Can only find White Portion and mints.
I wrote to General, telling them that I couldn't find General Original in any stores near me.
Surprisingly, they replied right away "We will work with the local rep to see if we can find the Original Portions for you".
I'll let you know if anything happens.

I agree with the nicotine content. To me, on-the-shelf snus (General White/Regular/Mint/Wintergreen) was enough for me to stop smoking.
I live in the deep southern United States. We have a lot of dippers, and they say that snus is not strong enough.
Swedish Match should put some General Strong and Extra Strong in those fridges. Maybe some Los, Ettan, Grov, etc.
In my college town, my snus is about 2 to 3 months from the "best before" date. Which is enough for me, but then again, I don't want to use General exclusively. I remember venturing around towns to find expired snus in some gas stations. So it is a problem, and it depends on the market.
I found a store that had Jakobssons snus, but didn't have them in a fridge. Tobacco stores don't usually have fridges.
