    Order Held by USDA

    Hello good people,

I ordered from Buysnus over two weeks ago and my shipment has been held up in Kentucky since before Christmas. I emailed UPS today and learned that my package is "under review" by the US Dept of Agriculture.

Yeah.... so, should I fear the worst? In other words, getting hit for taxes on years of ordering?

Would there be an advantage to me of refusing shipment and cutting the $200 loss, assuming that if UPS ever comes to the door they will also be delivering a fat tax bill?

If anyone has experience with this I would greatly appreciate it. I tried searching but found mostly older threads relating to Canada.

    Thank you! Hope all's well.

"The Ministry of Plenty" - (who make things were to be scarce i.e. snus) have passed this on to the "The Ministry of Truth" - (create false propaganda i.e. Ministry of Agriculture and controllers of doublethink)....so I reckon this will then be passed to "The Ministry of Love" - (in charge of punishments) who might send in "The Ministry of Peace" - (the military).

You're only a Prole Roo.......you should have at least joined the Outer Party. You are about to become an unperson.

    Hope this helps.

You're probably fine, but that's just my guess. Some idiots in customs have opened it, no doubt, and have no idea what they've found and are doing some very slow research on what it is lol. I once bought a cellphone from Canada, and customs felt the need to open it and root around in the package. It came resealed with ominous yellow tape sealing it back together labeled with "U.S. Department of Homeland Security customs and border protection".

I think you are OK as well.

Always have several references to clearing agencies, have also had "review" mentioned, but don't think I have ever had anything with USDA on the updates.

Assuming this came via the Christmas sales two weeks ago my guess would be it got caught up in the holiday rush and somebody punched a different button on a screen. USDA instead of clearing agency.

Be sure to let us know how it works out.

i had the same thing happen to me, got stopped in Kentucky for screening then showed up after a couple weeks with a letter In the package saying it was checked and blah blah. Jerks even opened up some of my N&J I ordered. Didn't have any customs bills or nothing with it.

Someone at a major snus retailer told me that's been happening more often lately. With BuySnus orders, all duties are paid, so I wouldn't worry. It's just government oppression.

              No they aren't...

tax in my state is super high. A can of snus at the shop near my work is 9 bucks.

Thanks for your replies everyone, it helps me calm down and not assume this is a tax issue, but more of a customs hold up. I'll let you know if I finally get it.

              Thanks again

I thought so too, but I guess not!

"If you are ordering goods for delivery, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be borne by you.
Some countries have regulations and restricted imports of the quantity of imported smokeless tobacco products and different countries have varied duty regulations. BuySnus.com does not have the possibility to provide information about customs and import regulations in the destination country.
The person who orders the products are therefore personally responsible for being informed about the own country customs and import regulations that apply to Swedish snus and other tobacco products and for paying any duties, taxes, fees that might be charged. Any charges for import clearance due to the purchase from BuySnus.com will be borne by you, the customer."

Did they change, and drop DDP? I'll email and ask, and let you know what they say.
SnusCentrals website no longer mentions it, and I know that it used to!

it's still there on SnusCentral's site, under the The PACT Act (US Only) link.

So it is! Thanks Greg. I'm waiting on a response from BuySnus to clarify it with them.

Dude...you need to skip town they will hunt you down over unpaid snus customs.. Seriously, just a blip it will come thru. Worse case is they open up the box to make sure it is snus which it is...so no worries.

                          ROO!!!!

                          Good to see ya mate!

It looks like you could call UPS and ask them to explain the hold up........if I remember correctly a large part of the expense shipping UPS is because they are proctoring your shipments through customs for you..........this is the sort of thing I thought they were being paid to insure did not happen........anyway a call to CS might not hurt

Keep us posted on what you find and how it turns out.........who knows it might help someone else down the line facing the same thing
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
