Snus available in EU similar to Ettan?

    The title already says all...
I think that Oden's Classic tastes similar to General, and Offroad Silver reminds me Göteborg Rapé.
But I'm not able to find a snus shipped to Europe that has a taste comparable to Ettan! I really miss that smoky flavor, any suggestion?

Me would like to know too, its one that i would like to try. If i cant get hold of some im going to try to make some of my own. Saw squeezyjohn thread might follow that but using a slowcooker instead of my main oven and bicarb instead of lye as im lazy and want to get it all from amazon.

Phantom brown is the only one I can think of that is vaguely similar as it is an non flavoured natural tobacco snus.

In the Ettan flavor family I would put (all based on los):

        Ettan
        Grov
        Prima Fint
        Pioneer (not available)
        Gellivare (not available)
        Gringo (available ?)
        Knox
        Extreme
        Isly los

There is no exact match here.....nor are these 1 to 1 substitutes........in fact if you are looking for an exact match you will be disappointing with all of them.......That said, these all share the same profile of basic Tobacco first flavors (except the Isly.....however, it has a nice smokey flavor that kind of puts it in that category).

Gringo or Knox would probably be the closest non SM product to Ettan.....(Knox is a good bit more ampted up though flavorwise than Ettan)
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Problem with that list is you can only get one of them in the EU, the OP wants one someone who loves under the snus iron curtain can buy easily. That or fly to Sweden to buy it.

Thank you for your replies. I don't expect snus to taste "exactly" like Ettan. It's hard to find the quality of SM in other products - and every snus has its particular taste. Anyway, something that just reminds me of Ettan would be appreciated.
I've seen that on Snusline they carry Knox, I will definetily give it a try. Same for Phantom Brown; I had some Phantom at the beginning of my snus experience and I didn't love it, but I think it wasn't the brown one.

Knox doesn't really taste like Ettan ... I'd say it was more like Kronan with a kind of floral hint to it. I liked Phantom brown - but I haven't seen it for a long time that was a pretty close match for Ettan though.

The only thing I've had recently that tastes remotely like Ettan was home-made from 100% virginia tobacco.

Northerner has phantom brown in both los and portion.

Sjohn whats the best recipe for an ettan like snus your one with licorice and fennel seeds or your other one on fiartradetobacco with cocoa powder?

Some one really needs to put all these recipes on one website. Their is makesnus.com too.

psychic ferret - I'm not sure that anyone needs to do this in their spare time - I'm not sure that many people have the time or inclination to make their own anyway ... but I have posted most of my successes either in the 'make your own' section of snuson and also over on fairtradetobacco.

Thanks for the heads up on Phantom. The recipe with cocoa in it is much more chocolatey than Ettan which has chocolate notes. If you simply add no flavourings to good quality virginia tobacco then you get a flavour very similar to Ettan. A longer cook on a lower temperature (70ºC for 3-4 days) will give a richer flavour. For every 100g of tobacco flour, use 130ml water, 8g salt and 2 tsps of lye water. Virginia tobacco has enough natural sweetness not to need extra liquorice or sweetener to give a balanced flavour.

                  Cheers
