After I started using an electric tooth brush some years back, I have never have any plaque problem anymore. That in combination with floss an fluoride rinsing each night keep my dentist out of work ;-).
Going on 40+ years using snus, I have no problem from it. I use both the left and right side of my upper lip and switch from time to time.
Snus is the spice of life...

You might want to consider the Dr. Ellie protocol per the steps below. I have been using for a few years now and dental health has really improved.
Rinse with CloSYS™ mouthwash. This is available at Walgreen’s.
Brush with Crest® Original Paste. Yes, regular paste. Don't get fancy with this. No whitening agents, tartar control additives, stannous fluoride, sodium monofluorophosphate, or triclosan.
Rinse with Listerine® - the original (regular or mint etc..). No plaque, tartar control, or whitening agents.
Rinse with ACT® Anticavity Fluoride - again. The original not ACT Restore.
Use a good medium-soft regular toothbrush disinfected after every use with Listerine then rinse with water.
Xylitol. Chew Xylitol gum or rinse with it inbetween/after meals. (Xylitol is also in Norther Snus, so I have that more than covered...haha)

Electric brush w/ Sensodyne toof pase, floss (I prefer the handle kind instead of the string rolls), and ACT alcohol free flouride mouthwash. Dentist knows I use oral tobacco, has told me 'you know that's really no good for you', but has never so much as mentioned anything about pockets or gum recession or anything of the sort. Been snusing over 5 years now.
