My little review of Skoal Snus

I was able to pick up three tins of the Skoal Snus at a gas station here (Sheetz). It was on sale for $2.49 USD a tin of 15 pouches (Camel Snus is $4.00). I'm a big CatchDry fan, and this stuff is nothing like CatchDry. In fact, it's like nothing I've ever tried (Camel included).

The pouches are completely dry. CatchDry is 'dry', but still a little moist. Skoal Snus is so dry that you can actually shake a pouch and hear the snus moving around in them like a small packet of pepper you get at a fast food restaurant.

Citrus Blend tastes like an orange creamsicle, not a citrus blend. Mint tastes like stale Double Mint gum, and cinnamon tastes like cinnamon. For a little pouch, there is quite a bit of flavor in them. No tobacco taste what so ever.

Like I said, I'm a big fan of CatchDry and its somewhat traditional flavoring (cassis menthol, etc.). I like the Skoal Snus because it was cheap and readily available for purchase, but it's just a bit too weird for my tastes; it's like they took flavoring, sprayed it with nicotine, and put it in a pouch.

I'm here in Lancaster, PA and all of the Sheetz stores around here seem to carry it

Well, there is not s Sheetz anywhere near where I live according to their store locator. However, I am in no hurry to try any of the American snus brands unless they adhere to the Swedish way and have all the ingredients printed on the side. The US doesn't seem to treat tobacco products much different then automobile additives. As long as you don't add something that makes people drop dead (or make their auto engines die) you will be fine. If they do die, well, you may have some lawsuits on your hands. I have not seen a pack of US snus, but I have a feeling it doesnt list whats in it.

I understand the allure of having snus products available at your local convenience stores, but I would rather order from online in bulk then try the unlabeled American stuff.

EDIT: If you are interested in trying snus, and do not want to make an order, I would suggest checking out http://www.swedishsnus.com/EU/storelocator.asp and seeing if there is a store that sells Swedish snus near you. All the ingredients are listed on the side of the can, and nothing can be added to it that is not considered a "food additive". This is far from the state of affairs for US made products. There are not a ton of locations here yet, but I would believe that most would be more satisfied with the Swedish snus instead.

Re-Edit: I just checked and there are 5 places selling snus in stores in PA. They carry General snus, which is what I got from Serious Cigars while I await my snus order. It's good stuff. Road trip anyone?
