Hats off to Northerner! Not because they are giving snus to people that participated in the forum, but because they are doing something that most businesses don't do: they care about people-not as customers or suppliers but as people that have had an unfortunate thing happen to them. I think that it is a wonderful gesture that goes so far above and beyond what a business really is expected to do. Again, kudos to Northener, you have more than earned my respect.
Not too much I can say that hasn't been already said. The 5 free cans are nice but, the Gellivare can is worth more. The flowers were a nice touch as well. I'm all in for the "American" gift. Perhaps some of the members in Sweden or Norway could tell us what purely american products are liked and hard to come by there. At least we could get some ideas from there? Just a thought.
Wow - thanks Northerner! For the organising the flowers as well as the free snus I mean. I don't think I've ever known an industry like the online snus sales one with respect to unbelievable customer service and participation with enthusiasts.
As for a gift - I'm afraid I won't be contributing to an all-american one, I'm not qualified - but maybe us few Brits here could come up with a plan too? If not I'll send something suitable!

I was just speaking for myself since I'm American. It would be cool to send unique gifts from all over the world. I guess we don't really spread that far as a forum anyway. There's 1 member from either Switzerland or Austria that dug Landströms, but I haven't seen him in awhile. A couple of Brits, and I think the rest are American. I wonder what happened to Subtilo. He liked Gellivare...
no, no - I didn't mean it like that - I just meant that it would be lovely if we could symbolically show just how far the product they made was cherished. A selection of gifts from around the world would be brilliant - although I'm thinking more and more that this shouldn't be allowed to happen and could we do more than just gesture?

I believe Frank is the man in the YouTube "Svandal" 'Stop Smoking With Snus' Video's. Those video's were the inspiration for me to quit smoking and switch to snus. I've just returned from holiday to find a snus I was just getting into now gone.
I guess it's too late for me to get that one final, though expired tin. Oh well, que sera sera.

We could get $130,000 together and pay off the back taxes. There's 957 members of Snuson. If everybody put in $135.84 we could do it. I could swing that much. We just need to get the other 956 members on board.

Quite a valient dream you have there, I do admire the sentiment. I could not swing it, unfortunetly. Too bad we can't have a bennefit concert (SNUS AID 2008!)

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking. Although of the 956 members of SnusOn there are probably at least 600 who signed up and hardly ever come here like most forums which would make the figure more like $400 each which is far too much to ask.
I did all the maths then didn't post it here because some people have absolutely no money spare (especially at the moment!) and talking about collecting for Gellivare might make some people feel awkward. But ...
That newspaper article that Frank posted the link to said that they made 1.5 metric tonnes a month - that is equivalent to 30,000 cans a month which is 1000 cans a day! Most people would struggle to use a can of Los a day, so I reckon that makes 2000-3000 regular users who must all be very sad like we are about the whole affair. If we could track them down and ask for a pledge of $120 which is 90 euro or £70 GB - with a 50% hit rate, we'd get very close I think - and if the hit rate is lower then at least we'd make a significant dent. Maybe giving them some kind of honorary membership of the company as an incentive.
I think it may be just a little too much - but when you break a big sum up like that - well it's not totally out of reach.
I'll get my coat now!

It is sad to enounce that our Snus supplier Gellivare Snus will soon file for bankcrupcy. They lost a case in court last friday against the Swedish tax...
Just found a fresh unopened can of Gellivare tucked away at the back of the fridge! It's not the old one Frank sent me with the 5 free cans - it's as...
