I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Dam I almost forgot. Thank you Frank for the great customer service from Northern, Inc. And thanks for thinking of us with this 2 lb snus thing. And thanks for coming to Snuson to chat. Don't be a stranger.

How about a very limited Snuson-Northerner snus. Have some custom labels printed up, pack it in tins, and sell it for about $4 per tin. The proceeds could go towards buying a small gift for Roger and Doris. There's not enough snus there to be of any real value, but a gift is a lasting token of appreciation.

Lots of great ideas. I like others would love to get my hands on some. I think a raffle or even the idea of selling it and getting a gift for them would be great to show some appreciation for a great snus. I am really sad to see another los snus be going down. We are losing so many los snus it hurts

Yes it's a lot of great ideas. I had a look today on the remaining Snus from Gellivare and it's actually more Snus than I thought - it's 2kg (4lbs) Gellivare loose and 2kg (4lbs) Landstrom loose. The final product will be around 40 cans of each Snus.
I have discussed back and forth with my collegue Mattias about your ideas and from some of your suggestions came up with the idea to sell it at a low price $80 per 2kg set that is $2 per can with free shipping and give the money $160 to Gellivare. But the Snus was made in the middle of July and expires in two months (one can always put the Snus in the freezer so it can last up to one year). So we feel it's better to just give the two sets away instead. We have also talked about splitting up the Snus into many cans but each set carry a recipy with ingredients just for one sets, so splitting up the 4kg (8lbs) isn't just possible
One suggestion as lxskllr mentioned to randomly select two persons might be a good solution, maybe randomly select two who participate in this discussion - what do you think?
Maybe there is a better way?

I have an idea that can help solve both Northerner's dilemma of giving the snus away and our dilemma of how we can show Roger and Doris our appreciation.
As Frank suggested, draw 2 names (one being lxskllr  ) from the posters to this thread. The winners can, if they choose to, either raffle off or have a silent auction for it with the proceeds going towards benefitting Roger and Doris.
Being in retail, I know there are many hoops you have to go thru to raffle off or auction off current stock in a retail environment without having to go thru the legal department and such to make sure it is on the level. It's just easier for the retailer to write it off as a stock balance and give it away. (At least is is here in the states.)
Just MHO. I have never tried Gellivare (would like to) so that's why I said "if they choose to" for the winners. What do you all think? Be honest. If I'm off base, let me know.

It would be nice to contribute a little something, even if we didn't all get some snus in return. Snus seems to be a much more human industry than cigarettes; people making products for other people to enjoy. And yes, I know it's all done with huge industrial machines, but the recipes that go back sometimes hundreds of years, people's loyalty to what they believe is "the right grind", or "the right saltiness", etc., makes one feel that they are enjoying what someone else believes is "the ultimate snus". It's sad to see a company go under; especially a family-owned one like Gellivare. Whatever happens, the snus world won't be the same.

I've always found giveaways tug on greed and bring out the worst in people.
Not here though.
You guys all have good ideas about a gesture for Gellivare. No matter what we do we can't undo what has been done. However any token would serve to demonstrate our appreciation for their work.
In the end The Northerner could give it out as they see fit and the recipients will have a bitter sweet memento of the company.
I understand the uniqueness and not splitting up the two lots. If it goes it should go whole. If the two sets are unique then one to two different users. As far as deciding to who I guess only random is truly fair.

I like the idea of a drawing/raffle. Is there any way for Northerner to look up purchases of Gellivare? I think those that have purchased it in the past that are members of Snuson should be the only ones included. The best would be a weighted drawing based on previous purchases. Say they had a drawing for LD Blue when it was discontinued, I would like an advantage over those that have not tried it. I really like the stuff and purchased a large amount of it when it was being discontinued. I have never tasted Gellivare, I don't know what I am missing.... could be good or just ok. Those people that have been buying it must have a good opinion of it and will more than likely cherish the remaining Gellivare. LET THEM CHERISH IT. This will undoubtedly make them even more loyal to Northener because of Northener's generosity. I think that it is best way. If we would like to set up a PAYPAL account to help the owners then that can be a completely separate thing.
