    V2 Limited Los Sample Reviews

Patrick over at V2 has gone forward with creating several flavors as sa,mples for a potential Limited Los release. He was kind enough to include me as one of the few that got to taste them.

    Here are my initial impressions:

Chocolate-Raspberry: This one is incredible. The chocolate flavor is nice and smooth and the raspberry is sweet but subtle. Occasionally I'll give it a poke and get a real pop of the raspberry flavor. I could use this stuff quite a bit on a regular basis.

Mandarine: This one is also great. The orange flavor is not overpoweringly sweet, yet when I give it a poke I get a wonderfull blast of flavor that tastes very good. I could also use this one as a mainstay. The flavor is light and fluffy (if that makes sense).

Brandy Alexander: I like this one quite a bit, but not as much as the ones above. I could see myself using this one after meals or with my morning coffee. I also gave this one the black beer test. This snus is probably the best compliment to a pint of stout that I have had thus far. The flavor starts off quite bold, but mellows to a very nice taste. I can taste the brandy flavor coupled with a creamy/chocolatey feel. This one is very similar to Probe, whereas it is great for the occasional pris, but after making the mistake of taking only it to work with me for a day I need to let it sit for a bit before I revisit the flavor

Vanilla: This is one of my favorites. The flavor is just incredibly smooth and goes very well with a can of Coca-Cola. This is also one that I could see myself using quite a bit of. Think of a spoonfull of vanilla bean icecream scaled down about 10x on the sweetness scale. Very natural tasting, very enjoyable.

Dark Coco: My least favorite of the bunch. After the chocolatey notes in the Brandy Alexander and the Chocolate Raspberry, this one just left me unsatisfied. The flavor is good, but compared to the others it is not something that I am going to reach for over the others. Some of the others that have gotten the sample pack completely disagree with my view here. I will let them tell you what they think.

Coffee: I like this one OK. The flavor is good, like a coffee hard candy, but without all the sugar. I could see myself using this one as an occasional use snus, but the flavor is something that could wear thin if you overdo it (like I did with the brandy alexander).

Red Cherry: I will start by saying that I have never liked red cherries much, so I was not very excited by this when I saw it. To my surprize I liked it more than the coffee and the coco. The flavor was subtle at first, but wakes up the longer I had it in my mouth. That being said, coming from someone who isn't a fan of red cherries, I could see this one being great to people who like red cherries.

    And lastly,

Tobacco Top: This one seems to just be a wonderful unseasoned tobacco with salt as a flavor enhancer. The taste is extremely mellow at first, but wakes up the longer you have it in. If I had to compare it to something I would give it the mellowness of prima fint coupled with the dark smokiness of an ettan. Per Patrick, this one is intended to be flavored like Top RYO smoking tobacco. I have never tasted Top tobacco, but I will say that this one is a wonderful snus! What I will say about this one is that I dont think it fits in well with all the other flavors. The people who will buy a natural/unseasoned tobacco like this one are typically (from what I have read on the forums) the same people who do not like the flavored snus varieties that are as unique as the ones above. I could see this one doing well on it's own without the other flavors being packaged with it.

Anyways, I am not sure whether some or all will go into the release, but I look forward to getting more in the near future.

If I could buy rolls of single flavors, the Choc Rasp, Mandarine, Top and Vanilla would hold a rather large space in my fridge.

Great reviews Xobeloot. I look forward to baking a pris of each. I like flavor but not super sweet flavor these seem to fit that profile. Again thanks for the reviews

      The Mandarin was my favorite.

For those of you wanting a good orange flavor in snus this is it.

It was my favorite out of them all, great orange taste , not too strong not too subtle.

All in all they are all good but Mandarin was my favorite.

      Thank you Patrick

How did you sign up for this?....I think that I would go about gettin' myself some if it comes to market. Is there an ETA if it passes with flying colors?

I was lucky enough to try the samples as well and they defiantly get thumbs up from me For the most part I agree with Xobeloot on the descriptions, to me they are all mellow and smooth. The tobacco is cut a bit finer than OffRoad or Phantom but it forms easily and stays together really well. My favorites are listed below in order from favorite to least favorite:
          1. Dark Vanilla, first time I ever had a vanilla snus and loved it
          2. Brandy Alexander, unlike Probe I didn't find this one to be overly sweet defiantly has a brandy flavor
          3. Mandarin, the flavor is so mellow you kind of get an after taste effect of the real orange
          4. Tobacco Top, I've tried what was called regular tobacco flavored snus before and wasn't very impressed, this I could use all day
          5. Coffee, like Xobe said it taste kind of like hard coffee candy, and I dig hard coffee candy
          6. Chocolate-Raspberry, more of a desert snus to me, but the combination of flavors is wonderful
          7. Dark Coco, I enjoyed this one as well, and I think it will defiantly have its fans but it's one I could do without since there is a Chocolate-Raspberry
          8. Red Cherry, this was not a bad snus if you are big into cherry flavors I think you will like this one, but since I am not it is at the bottom of my list

According to V2 we could be seeing this stuff for sale in about 2 months

A few were chosen at random.

Most of them were people who have been here the longest and have the most experience with los.

I was lucky to be one of the random guys chosen.

of course Xobeloot and the others that I know got to sample them definately deserved them.

I was just lucky to be at the right place at the right time.

Sounds good. I look forward to trying the mandarin and dark coco. Hopefully they pass the scrutiny of the testers. I love loose and almost kill a can each day I get off work.

These all sound interesting. Hopefully they go forward with the vanilla.. I am a vanilla kind of person (Hey, don't call me boring) and it sounds great. The Tobacco Top sounds unique too.. gotta say I have yet to try Prima Fint.

Damn, those are some interesting flavors for tobacco. Only in Snus could I even imagine enjoying an Orange or Cherry flavored concoction and maybe even liking it. What an unusual choice of using Top for a RYO flavored tobacco taste though. Sounds like it makes for a better Snus than a cigarette tobacco at least. I would look forward to trying a couple of those though, especially the Chocolate Raspberry and Cocoa flavors.

These sound delicious! I'm looking forward to the release (hopefully soon). I particularly look forward to tasting the Choco-Rasp and the Tobacco Top. I'm insanely jealous that you got to be a tester though! Although the rational side of my brain says that you're probably the most reliable V2 customer in America...but my inner snusaholic is still jealous!

I've only have a fully formed opinion of 3 flavors. I'll update when I've spent more time with the others.

Chocolate Raspberry- This one is absolutely delicious. I was skeptical, because it was...well chocolate raspberry :^P The flavoring's mellow, and it comes off being sweet, without really being sweet. I've had high end raspberry chocolate before, and this is a good reproduction. A very nice dessert snus, without going overboard on the flavor.

Mandarin- This has a nice flavor, but it just doesn't suit me. It has a orange oil burn, that I find bothersome after short while. I think anyone who likes bold orange flavor will dig this snus. Are you listening Heather?

Coffee- This one isn't bad. If you like the coffee portions you'll like this. I was into the coffee for the first few portions I had, but I tired of them quickly. It has a buttery taste, and I think Xob is right on with the coffee hard candy analogy. I would prefer a drier coffee flavor with less implied sweetness and a more organic flavor, though I think that would be difficult to accomplish with snus.

to me Tobacco Top was a little bit of a let down.

I was hoping for a natural tobacco and salt snus. But it has a sweet taste of something I just cant put my finger on.

Some of you will love it, but t has that American Straight flavor, sorta.

But all the others were delicious and spot on with what they were going for.

Odd, I didnt think it tasted like American Straight in any way, shape or form.

                              Just salty tobacco
