    Gustavus los

So in celebration for finishing a couple cans yesterday afternoon, I opened a fresh can...always a happy time for me. (Heather calls me a dork when I get all happy and excited opening a new can...)

I decided on Gustavus over yet another can of General; I mean, I KNOW I'll love General, just wanted something new.

Gustavus tastes kind of like a bowl of potpourri smells. Not in a bad way, that's just the image I got when I popped it in. I like that the flavor goes very quickly. Probably due to the very coarse grind. This is like what I imagine Grov being ground like. Doesn't hand bake well at all, might as well just do a bonde. It icetools slightly better, but it isn't one of those pris that is going to last 3 hours, I know this now. I'm going to keep going on this one all day today just to get several tastes in, but my initial impression is that I like it. Quite balanced, juice isn't super spicy, lots of flavor, nice sweetness on the end.

This is what Skruf Stark wishes it could be when it grows up.

Gustavus los is my favorite snus. I think it is amazing. It can be hard to bake compared to most, but when you start baking a lot you figure out how to do it pretty well. Also, I have no problem keeping Gustavus together in my mouth for over 4 hours without problems. It's an excellent snus. The flavor to me is very salty, but I really like it. To me it's one of the only los snus that seem to let out a lot of flavor. Glad to know that there are others out there keeping my favorite snus alive,

Yeah, it is fairly salty, but in a seawater kind of way, not like french fries that just have too much salt. Do you generally hand bake your Gustavus or do you use the icetool? I'm finding that it doesn't really matter, the rough grind just makes for a looser pris than I'm used to.

It's not that it mudslides on me, I just find that after 40 minutes or so, little bits start coming off in my mouth, and it's more trouble to keep it up there than it is to just pack a new one and switch out.

I've been thinking about its texture all day as I've had it in my lip most of the day, and it's a really good texture; almost like having a chunk of birthday cake up there (that's a weird description, but that's all I can really think of). The closest thing I can liken the size of the grind to is maybe kosher salt crystals.

I like Gustavus loose too. It's my go-to when I want a change of pace from Skruf Stark. If Gustavus came in a strong I'd probably use it more, although the significant salt factor is not something I can maintain for long.

I agree. I've used it all day today to gauge its viability as a daily use snus, and I think the salt is a little much, plus I prefer the mouthfeel of something a bit finer. This seems like a good morning snus, the salt really wakes the mouth up, kind of the same thing coffee does for your mind.

I am a Toque flavor fan.

I have been meaning to post something like this for a while. It seems that many if not most of the folks hear are x-smokers. I applaud you all in your efforts to become smoke free. However, I have come to snus by a different rout and so I want to share my experiences with all those x-dippers who may be looking at this site for suggestions and direction to get started.
