I just turned 18 and usually follow the rules so I've never used any tobacco products before. I have it drilled into my head never to swallow tobacco juice or I will feel sick. If I swallow snus will I feel sick for the first couple times? I bought a can of wintergreen general snus I haven't opened it yet and it's in a cool drawer, any tips for a beginner would be nice.

There's no need to spit with snus but I have seen people who do spit. I never got nauseas when starting out.
Your throat might be a bit irritated by the nicotine but that should go away relatively quickly.
As a note I tried General as my second Snus with Camel being my first. There is no comparison. The General has much better strength and a more complex flavor profile. (It burned like a mofo the first few times as well)
Welcome again!
Edit: Obligitory Dad Post: If you aren't addicted to nicotine I'd recommend not starting.Last edited by N1THC; 21-06-17, 05:00 PM.N1THC / WQYV607 - Ham / GMRS Operator

yea I could be your dad....Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Congrats on your 18th man!
General snus, especially if you've never "experimented" with nicotine before, will likely knock you flat on your ass. General is strong, so the first time you try it, you'll likely get incredibly light-headed, your hands will shake, etc. There's a chance you could get sick, but I'm unsure of your tolerance level with nicotine. Be careful with it though - the stuff is very addicting (even though it greatly helped me quit cigarettes, I'm still wildly addicted to nicotine).Last edited by MindSnare; 25-06-17, 09:46 PM.

At first it's very irritating but it disappears when the throat gets used to it.
When I was your age I was thinking I would not have any problems getting stuck and a can could hold for a week. Now seven years later I realize how dumb I was becoming addicted to nicotine since it costs and yeah, not very healthy either.

Throat will feel irritated, but if you feel sick it's from the nicotine since you're not used to it.
However, I've lurked these forums without an account for a while now, but I just now made an account to respond to this and to throw in my two cents.
If you aren't addicted to nicotine, please stay away from any type of tobacco. You'll wish you did after several years of addiction. It gets old, just like anything else. The problem is, you'll realize you can't quit very easily, even when you want to.
I smoked for 11 years, I've dipped on and off for the last 6 years, and I've been experimenting with snus for the last 3 or so, and now I use e-cigarettes and snus. I'm switching to snus because e-cigarettes are beginning to really jack up my lungs. I'm having issues with my lungs just after 3 years of vaping that I've never had with my lungs after many years of smoking. Maybe it just doesn't agree with me, who knows. So I'm switching to snus, but with that said, if you're not hooked on nicotine, don't start. I promise you, you WILL regret it later on down the road.
However, I was 18 once, and I know listening to others at that age when you don't know what nicotine addiction is like isn't an option. Regardless, you'll do what you want to do, but I definitely don't recommend it. I started smoking when I was 11 years old, and that's where my nicotine addiction began.Last edited by Dagz; 05-07-17, 03:26 AM.
