    difference between portions

    Greetings,

I am new to the forum and only recently discovered snus. So far I have sampled a couple - Probe and Ettan both loose, so far like the Ettan a bit better. Before snus I used exclusively Copenhagen Black, the main reason I tried Probe first.

Lately I have been curious about the portions though, the only time I tried anything portion-like was when skoal bandits hit the market and I didn't care for them at all.

It sounds like the flavor really comes through with snus though. So my question is what is the difference between original portions and white portions? It seems (using Ettan pouches on the Northerner as an example) that both the original and the white portions are 1 gram and made with the same tea bag material.

    Look forward to your responses.

I believe the difference between them (the portion bags) is that the White Portions sustain the flavor releasing it slower, thus, the flavor itself lasts longer. It would depend on whether you want your flavor to come out quickly (like a rush), or more slowly - some people like both at different times (e.g. a dark portion early in the morning and one before bedtime, or vice-versa). Thus, The dark portions should be slightly stronger.

You mentioned you like Ettan. If I were you, wanting to experiment, I would buy at least one of the Ettan White, and at least one of the Ettan Original (which is the dark bag) to see which one, or ones you like.

Here is the text in regard to the White Portion Large that comes in a little book that comes with the Swedish Match Snus Range (a try-out box of 8 different Snuses):

    White Portion Large

A new portion format introduced in 2003. The portions are manufactured with a different technique than for the Original Portion, requiring no after-moisturizing. As a result, the portion packets have a white surface, a slightly milder aroma and a longer-lasting taste.

End Of Quote from Swedish Match's "Discover eight Swddish snus classics", page 7 {English Side}.

Hope this helps with your decision(s) regarding the portions.

original portion: faster nicotine delivery, faster dripping, stronger taste, but they last less.
white portions: slower nicotine, less juice dripping, milder taste lasts longer,

i use maxi original portion in the morning, maybe two of them, to wake up.
i use white portions for the rest of the day.

the portion snus is about 1/3 the size of the big cope pouches.

why not try them all? I tried every single kind of portion snus, i had a lot of fun, and now i know exactly which one i like the best and that i am not missing anything.

Yeah, I will try that appeal to me, there are certain flavors that I am not a fan of like anise, but otherwise I am looking forward to experimenting and having fun trying out some different portions.

Seems that there are a lot of flavors that are available in portions but not loose.

          Thanks for the response.
