General question

I'm debating ordering a can or 10 of General.
I like Grov, Retro, N&J, Skruf Cran/Stark. Those are my top choices right now. Will I like General?

I want the "experts" opinions before I order.

I like Grov, and love N&J original... General original portions are probably my favorite snus... IMO everything is balanced perfectly...

However, I have made a personal rule not to buy a roll of anything until I've used at least two cans... If you are a regular snuser, then you have to at least try the best selling snus in the world...

Great stuff, I'd use it more but the smoke additive irritates my throat a little. Although I don't know anyone else that experiences this on the forum.

General is top self and always treats me just right. I have never bought a roll because I have a fear of comitment, but that's for another topic. However if I had to buy a roll General portions would be no.1 on the list.
IMO, I would not order a roll unless you know you like it, and can use it all before the experation date. Perhaps get 5 tins instead?

Well, just to be contrary... I'm not a big fan of General. It's alright, but I think there's snus with a similar character that do a better job. I would recommend giving it a try, but that's my policy on just about all snus. I like Granit better for something that's close the the General flavor profile.

Buy a can. I find it's way too easy to buy too much of something out of enthusiasm rather than experience, and you end up with a bunch of cans you may or may not ever use.

I liked General initially - it was my first loose - but soon found it a bit boring compared to others. It's not bad, just not very exciting or dynamic. Tastes change, though, and I may end up liking it in the future. Indeed I'll be forced to if shipments from Sweden become illegal.

Lastly, I think part of the reason I don't like it as much as some others is because, like others here have described it, it is the "Coca-Cola of snus." I require something a bit edgier and less mainstream. That's a personal identity issue.

Then again, I probably use my snus less often than most of the people on here...:P

I'd say start with one or two. Max of 4 if you like it and/or use snus often...
I've never tried it personally, but I keep hearing it's really good.

Anyway, I agree with the try it first before you buy a whole roll mantra.

I love General myself, but you may not. I prefer the flavor of Skruf Stark sometimes. General is one of my top three for loose snus.

Portions on the other hand, the General minis are great for double barrel action. That gets costly since you'll blow through a can faster. The regulars and whites are good too, but I prefer strong portions.

Take the $1 try out can snusfather posted. I got one, really quick too since that link ships out of PA. Got a fresh can too.

General Onyx is "dope" in the parlance of younger folks than I [lol, I'm only 31]. I like regular G portions, sterk and Onyx, if I were gonna get a full roll of something in the General though...it'd be the Onyx. Actually my 50% off roll is due at buysnus, and being that Onyx is pricey, I'll probably use the discount for it.

There are no experts here, only experienced and enthusiastic users. Experience is from involvement with, and exposure to something over time. You should become your own expert before you buy a roll of anything. (IMHO) Go through 30 or 40 different varietys of snus first...

FWIW, I liked Onyx and also G. Sterk. By the time I got around to General (reg), I didn't much care for it. Try other brands...

Onyx is the shiznit if you don't mind a portion. Love it, but it's a bit more expensive. General and General Sterk are just okay IMO. Not a ton of flavor really, just a solid all around snus. I'd go with Ettan if you like the rich, smooth tobacco flavor.

OK guys, its taken me a while to get on to this one, but you knew I had to...

General is (so far) my absolute favorite snus! It's definitely a personal opinion, but I taste more complexity and variety of flavors with every can I use. I love that its initial flavor is bright citrus notes with the tobacco quick behind it, adding just enough sweetness and a salty character next to balance it out. The aftertaste is slightly bitter with a peppery aroma that makes my mouth water and I anticipate the next rush of flavor.

I've only ever used the los version, never tried portions or Sterk/Maxi/Silver/Onyx, so I can't speak to those. It's something about the feel of the portion bag that I don't like. I always recommend General to new snusers, in fact a work mate tried it for the first time yesterday, despite his opinion that "it smells like cat pee". He said the texture was unlike any dip he'd ever had (he's a hardcore Skoal Straight/Cope man) but that the flavor was unbelievable. He described it as "tastes like fancy-pants tea". He asked me where he could get a can, so maybe I made a convert...We'll see...

Anyway, I highly recommend General, but definitely start with no more than two cans. Enough to form an opinion, but not so much that you'll be stuck with it if you don't like it.
