Give it time my friend, North Carolina WILL steal your soul, I promise!!
I didn't ride for 17 years. I had a bike when I met my ex-wife, she even rode with me a bit. But when we moved in together, I could just see the fear in her eyes every time I left. So I gave the bike up, only told her after I had done so. Of course, over the years, that translated into I could never buy one again..LOL. But the deal was, I could buy any car we "reasonable" could afford. so that was OK.
Almost 2 years ago, she left. It was after that I realized I could get a bike again, and bought a little Honda Rebel off of e-bay and flew up to Tennessee to ride her home. That was an amazing trip. Not being on a bike so long, I knew right away how right it was to ride again.
I was in a bad accident last November. A car just not poaying attention hit me from behind as I was making a right. Hit me doing about 50 mph. I flew up about 20 feet, and landed 30 feet from the point of impact. but my gear did what it was supposed to do and kept me from breaking anything. Had to wait 6 months for all the insurance to settle to get my current bike, a Hyosung GV250. Amazing bike, only a 250, but 28 HP. Almost twice the HP of any other 250 cruiser. Built in Korea
If you ever want to check out some amazing alternative bikes, and one of the greatest forums I have ever participated in, (besides her of course), check out www.alternativecruisers.com. I am far more active there then even here. I have over 3000 posts. And you can't miss me, I look the same.
