Tried to hand bake a portion.....

I had a few portions of General white wintergreen that the seals on the sides were split, emptying the snus into my can of portions. So I pulled out the 3 that were leaking and decided I was going to try to hand bake the loose into a portion.
After a few min. of trying to get it to stick together, I stick my "creation" under my upper lip only to have it instantly dissolve into a mudslide of snus ops:
Im guessing the white portion dosnt have enough moisture to hold a pris together? Oh well, maybe ill just have to pick up a can of los and give it a try again with the right stuff.

Yeah, probably not enough moisture. Also, General is a more coarsely ground los snus. Try Roda, it's rather fine, so it sticks together pretty well, plus it's got a General-like flavor with an extra sweetness...reminds me of Twizzlers. Ponysoprano swears by rL, and it's probably my #2 fave.

I tried doing the same thing with some Kronan before. Like was said, not enouf moisture. you can add some of your own and stick it in the fridge for about 24 hrs.

Another problem is the nicoteen delivery. Portions have more sodium carbonet and will deliver mor nic. faster than Los; causing the headach, nausia and technicolor hurling we know and love.

Some other easy to bake Los's besides Rhoda Lacket are:
:!: Ettan - pure tobaccoy, salty goodness.
:!: Gotborgs Prima Fint - Like Ettan, easyer to bake, but not as good (imho)
:!: Phantom & Offroad - courser grind than the above, but with a variety of flavors and still prety easy to bake with some practice.

Hand bakeing takes some practice one way or the other, but it's the only way I use Los (I only use portions if I have to). I feel it produces the best and tastiest pris for me. One other tip, invest in some black or brown handkercheifs to clean your hands and fingernails with.

Yep, many have tried.....most have failed. When I have a portion fall apart on one side, I usually just fold the end over and pop it in as careful as I can. If it gets all over the place, it won't be much different than having a pris of los "go rogue", anyway...

Yeah, I agree that offroad/phantom los is pretty sticky for a coarse grind snus...hell, pretty sticky for any snus. It stays together quite well. I like to do hillbilly pinches with offroad because it stays together so well. General and Roda don't pinch quite as cleanly.

I sometimes take portion snus that I cant get in los form and break apart all the portions. Then I add a small bit of water, stir it up good and let is sit for about 24 hours.

It never really gets to the point of being hand-baked, but it does nicely with a good old pinch or an Icetool load.

Sometimes it is hit or miss on the flavor though. I think some flavors were just meant to be in a bag (triumph).

Jakobssons, on the other hand, was great in los form. I didn't rehydrate it at all, just loaded my icetool and went to town.
