    Thoughts on GROV...

One of my 5 free cans from Northerner was a can of GROVSNUS (sorry, whenever I think of it, it's in caps...like a monster truck announcer's voice). I guess this is the snus equivalent of "long cut". Or at least, that's the impression the blurb gives; to paraphrase "GROV is a coarse grind snus for users who prefer more feel under the lip", or something like that...Like some people go, "Gee, this snus sure is good, but I wish it was prickly..."

Anyway, it's ground basically the same as any V2 snus. Fairly rough, but pretty moist, too. It's one of the moistest cans I've ever gotten, and it had been in the minifridge for a good week or two. So I tasted it on Friday night, but I had been using OR Lic all day, and my taste buds were a little worn out. I decided to take it down to the boat with me and spend my duty day with it. I find that it tastes almost identical to Ettan, but a little less salty, and to my surprise, the texture IS better! I guess I like prickly snus. Anyway, I would definitely buy it again...I used about half a can in 24 hours.

The taste is prity good, I sometimes even taste dark chocolet. I don't use Grove Los often because it comes appart too easily in the size of pris I enjoy.

When I first tried Grov, It had some strange funk to me. It almost had a pickle juice sorta taste.

I revisited the stuff after my taste buds had recovered from years of smoking and found it quite enjoyable. I started ordering it in rolls and then just got bored with it.

I still have about 4 cans in my freezer that I may revisit, but not just yet.

Grov is one of my "roll worthy" brands.

Grov is one of my fav's. I'd definitely call it a roll worthy brand as well. Nothing really complicated about it. Very earthy taste. Great with coffee.

            I personally hated Grov.

Just was a wast of money for me. I like Ettan better than Grov.

I've found that people tend to prefer either Ettan OR Grov, not both.

Love love LOVE Grov portion. One roll in every order.

Grov lös? Ehhh, not so much. I prefer Ettan and Rape' in lös.

I found Grov to be a really excellent snus. In fact, I prefer it to Ettan! To me, Grov is one of those "all day" kind's of snus. I would not get bored with it.

I agree with Xobe re: Grov's pickle taste. I've only had the white portion, I think Grim said the same thing about Kronan. I'm glad someone else recognized the weird flavor that sometimes pops out of GROV. I liked it at first but last time I used it I spat it out 5 minutes later, but I will give the lös a try next go round.

I have never tried Grov Portions, only Los.

I just found it to have a sweet kinda taste with no salt and a weird overall pallet.

When i tried it it was just too plain/bland to me.

I may have to revisit it later but I was not impressed.

I just fell in love with Ettan los because it was the snus i was looking for in los form.

However, I found i hated Ettan portions.

They were just strange to me because i loved the Los and the portion flavor was completely different.

When it comes to Los Ettan takes the cake but i only enjoy Onyx from SM in portion form.

I am not a big fan of white portions, so i only use reg portions other than onyx.

Luckys and Pall Malls hit my salt tooth for portions but Ettan is unbeatable for my Los snus tastes.

I find that enjoy both. I seem to gravitate to Ettan in the morning with coffee and Grov in the evening with Henry McKenna (burbon) in the evening.

have you tried probe whiskey with your bourbon? or does it become meddlesome mixing artificial whiskey flavor with the real thing?

Yes, I have tried it. It's not the whiskey taste that puts me off (with burbon) but the sweet flavor. I'm more of burbon and water guy. I do use it as more of a desert snus after dinner. BTW, it is also excellent with coffee.

I've used my Grov exclusively for two days now, and my can is nearly cashed. I think I've decided that I prefer it to Ettan, since it has a similar flavor, and a lot less salt. Makes for an excellent "all day" snus. Not as good as General, of course, but still, very good. I'm finding that the coarser grind, higher moisture snus are the ones I like best.

For example, I like Roda's flavor very much, and its ease of baking, but the fine grind makes for a tighter pris than I'm finding I prefer. Less flavor, longer session. I have no qualms about switching out pris every 35 minutes.
