    Odd Observation....

It may just be me, But lately it seems like Tobacco users end up catching more flak than those who abuses Illegal Methamphetamine...lol

I could be exaggerating, but does anyone else get that feeling?

I definitely agree that tobacco use has become highly stigmatized. I get plenty of looks when people see the can of snus come out and the portion go in. If only they knew what they were missing!

whenever someone gives me the dirty looks, I inform them that I as a tobacco user today am catching hell, but once we're all gone, fatasses like them are next

People need to get off their high horses and visit the earth with the rest of us. I have had about enough of do-gooders sticking their nose where it don't belong. I quit smoking by using snus, now I don't effect others around me so they can stick it where the sun don't shine

        Amen!

to be honest tho.... one of my secret enjoyments of smoking was that i got to thrust second hand smoke upon the closed-minded butt-plugs!

wow....that sounds a lot more evil than i thought it would, lol

What bugs me since switching from smokes to snus (and the occasional huff o' snuff) is that I'm taking tobacco in a way that despite whatever harm it may be causing me is in NO WAY harming anyone else.

no second hand smoke, no offensive spitting, shoot 90% of the time folks are totally unaware that I'm even using tobacco...

I say F@*K those judgmental pricks.

Ha, yeah, same here. I started using snus at work, and nobody even knew that I was using it for about a month. They only noticed one day when I was too lazy to put the tin back in my pocket, so I left it out on the table next to me.

            Everybody was like "YOU DIP?!?!"
So of course, I had to correct them.

The infuriating thing to me is that users of tobacco in general are coming to be seen more and more as criminals.

First, the antis portrayed tobacco users as low class, then white trash, and now it's like we're friggin' criminals. Pisses me off. I don't blow smoke in other people's faces. I'm actually pretty courteous (and cautious) about when and where I smoke just because I don't want to have to deal with the stigma.

Face it, adults in free nations should be free to do pretty much whatever they want as long as it isn't harming or impinging on the rights of another person.

I can even see barring smoking in, say, airplanes, movie theaters and small restaurants. But bars? Outdoor public places? Sheezus...

Americans in general are judgemental, uneducated pricks. They only know of dip from the old days where you had spittoons. I can see smoking as bad, because it kills you and stinks to holy hell, but snus is fabulous. A lot of people act like they don't have vices, yet they go home and overindulge in food and drink. Some may even smoke the occasional joint. I just ignore them. It's not even worth my time to explain snus.

                      I agree with reshumate....to an extent...lol.

A lot of Americans are judgemental pricks... but there are some who don't fit that bill.

It really isn't worth the time to explain it to people, only those who are genuinely interested.

usually when i put a portion in when i'm out, someone will give me a weird look and ask what it is, and i usually just reply "it's this one thing..." It's vague, and gets rid of 'em quick, lol

I usually tell people that it's a Swedish tobacco like dip, but not like dip. Usually they smell it and decide that hearing more isn't really necessary.

                          I thought it smelled good...

A lot of people seemed put off by the smell. Although, I've found that people tend to find less distasteful the anise smell of Gotland's Anis Los. I had one person tell me it smelled like absinthe to them. I've never tried absinthe, but I can see why it would smell that way.

That's one thing about the Camel snus that might be a giveaway as to whether or not a snus is powerfully overflavoured: the smell should smell like tobacco, at least somewhat. For instance, check out the Elixyr Pepparmint: it doesn't smell like tobacco at all to me.

I try to explain it to people by stating first that it's a Swedish form of tobacco that's been around for over 150 years, that many studies have found it to be one of the safest forms of tobacco use, and that it comes in a variety of forms and flavours, and requires no spitting.

I gave up on explaining it to folks at work. I simply say...

I quit smoking using a Swedish nicotine replacement therapy.

                              It is Swedish

                              It has nicotine

                              I find it therapeutic

                              All good :P

All my co-workers are amazed I quit. A few tried some of my snus and were like... umm....

At least no one will mooch off me :P
