Does caffeine absorb into your gums like nicotine?

How does one absorb the caffeine from energy snuses? Is the caffeine absorbed into the gums like nicotine? Or does one have to swallow the juices and have your stomach do the digestion? I ask this because I got some of that elixyr energy snus, and it doesn't taste particularly good, so i was spitting the juices, and noticed I didn't get much of a caffeine buzz. The snus tastes and smells like a wet washcloth.

    Hey Cosmo!

Not too sure about this but, I would think some would be absorbed. When I use P.E., I have always swallowed the juice and didn't get the kick. I think my problem is that I'd use it in the morning along with a Monster Energy Drink! Have no idea why I can't get the kick....lol..

I would say yes, it does. You can buy caffeinated soap now, which is obviously absorbed through the skin.

        It certainly does.

I used to let No Doz dissolve just like you would an Oliver Twist. They worked very quickly that way.

mucus membrane absorbtion is second only to injection as far as rate of delivery. It is absorbed thru the capilaries and into the blood, as compared with being swallowed, digested, and absorbed in the stomach and intestines. It's a much shorter trip!

I suppose it depends on ph? Morphine, nicotine, codeine, caffeine, are they all not structurally close? I would think if nicotine passes through so would caffeine. Although morphine is the most effective at attaching itself to the receptor site.

              It does.

When I was a kid, some friends and I used to "dip" coffee grounds (fresh, not used). We thought we were cool and trying to emulate tobacco chewers I guess. We would spit and it would be all brown...

Definitely got a buzz from it.
