Does anyone know if the Probe Whiskey is flavored with real whiskey or if it is some sort of "whiskey flavoring or extract". I guess my question is does Probe have Alcohol in it?
Good question. I'm sure it it just a flavoring additive, but I could be wrong. Even if it contained alcohol, the amount would be so minuscule that it would not even effect a breathalyzer. Even orange juice contains 0.05% ABV!!
I doubt it. Never smelled any ethanol with it. Tastes good though.
I, too, also doubt it. I also never smelled any ethanol with it. However, I think it tastes like a goat turd.
Heh, I agree that Probe tastes rather turdly.... :P It damn sure doesn't taste like whiskey; at least not to me. Mind you, this is the portion version...I'm sure the loose is probably better, but I can't bring myself to order a tin.
I'm going to have to say no, because I just tested a freshly opened can of General on the Intoxilyzer S-D5 using an ambient sample feature and it showed a reading of .000g. Not a controlled lab environment, but....
Not sure that it has alcohol. But it is sweet and so sugar might be a part of it. I like it, portions are nice. The los is strong in nicotine. Portions less. My 2 cents.
I am completely clueless as to whether or not it has alcohol. But i agree with dead rabbit on the Goat Turdyness. Although i have found that Ettan and Grov are both awesome if you spritz them with some Maker's Mark Bourbon, then let them chill in the fridge for a few hours.
I doubt it. Never smelled any ethanol with it. Tastes good though.
Thats because ethanol is odorless
All right wise guy: my quote for the day from the UCC in Ireland: "Ethanol, C2H5OH, (also called Ethyl Alcohol) is the second member of the aliphatic alcohol series. It is a clear colourless liquid with a pleasant smell. Except for alcoholic beverages, nearly all the ethanol used industrially is a mixture of 95% ethanol and 5% water, which is known simply as 95% alcohol. Although pure ethyl alcohol (known as absolute alcohol) is available, it is much more expensive and is used only when definitely required."
Now sentry103 could continue to argue that if they used pure ethanol in Probe, which they would not due to expense (why not use something like Whiskey?), that you could not smell it. This again would be highly unlikely since 100% ethanol almost always has traces of acetaldehyde which would give it a distinct "pleasant odor". I argue that you could still tell that there is ethanol in it, even if all acetaldehyde is removed by inhaling it due to the semi-distinct burning nature of ethanol in the nasal passages. I don't think that there are many other food-grade components that would give the nasal passages the same sort of delight as ethanol would. Though I suppose someone could sneak into the factory and pour a poisonous alcohol into the Probe mixture.
Yet would it still "smell" the same?
I will take your last post as a compliment. Though you still could have argued your point more. My initial post was more of...shall we say...a quick response without realizing there might be someone out there, such as yourself, that would try to make me look like the fool.
Nah man I wasn't trying to make anyone out to be a fool I twas just bein a smartarse... Most lawyers will set people in my line of work defending The drunk driver who just killed someone's mom like this-
Lawyer- Did you smell alcohol on his breath?
Public servant- Yes I did.
Lawyer- How could that be? Alcohol is odorless!
Public servant- It was a smell consistant with that of a fermented malt beverage.
so on and so on.....
Thats actually what I was thinking when I posted the odorless comment. No reflection on you. 8) 8) 8) 8)
