    Götenborgs Rapé No2 Review

Before I share my thoughts on this particular snus, I need to share a dream I had last night about it....

In my dream everything was complete chaos. I tend to work in a crazy environment so relative calm can be a rare thing for me. Along with work I have 3 teenagers also, so imagine

Well, in my dream I walked up to my fridge and grabbed me a Götenborgs Rapé No2 portion and I swear that everything slowed down and instead of being in the middle of a maelstrom, I was standing in a field with a gently blowing breeze gently caressing the grass stalks. No one else was around and all was right in the world.

    Interpretation? I LOVE this snus.

The Tin: If you have had Götenborgs Rapé portions it is similar but a little thicker. It is a nice tin, not nearly as nice as say a 1847 one, but still well made and the top is tight.

The Smell: When I first opened it I was hit by the lingonberry smell along with a subtle flowery tobacco odor. To me, it was very pleasing. I actually tested out my Skuf Tranbar before this one. Delayed gratification is very cool!

The Taste: Man oh man. It is a sweeter snus but the lingonberries provide the dominant flavor with flowery highlights and a slight tobacco aftertaste. It is also salty, but the salt really kicks the berry flavor into high gear.

For reference, here is a scale for sweetness that I kind of use:

    Camel snus:
    [-------------------------------------------------X]

    Triumph Original snus:
    [--------------------X-----------------------------]

    Triumph Mint:
    [------------------------------X-------------------]

    General Portions:
    [-X------------------------------------------------]

    Skruf Tranbar (Cranberries)
    [----X---------------------------------------------]

    Götenborgs Rapé No2
    [---------X----------------------------------------]

I figured I would give it a visual since I have heard others say that it is sweet. It is, but not overly.

I found that this snus is a comfort snus for me. For some reason it takes me to a calming place, which is odd since as far as I know, I have never eaten or smelled lingonberries in my life.

For me, this will be a specialty snus, something to be savored and enjoyed. I would hate to burn out on the taste, so I will use it sparingly.

If you have not tried it, give it a shot!

I will continue to use GR#2 as well. When I first started snusing I tried all sorts of different flavors. I like the GR#2 right away and continue to like it till this day. I have to give it a big thumbs up considering I initially hated Skruf Cranberry, yet like it today. I don't think that GR#2 will ever be a snus that I must stay away from for any period of time. Much like LD Blue, which they have gotten rid of...curse those bastards!! Oh, I had to post because you put so much effort into writing this post.

      Cheers!

I really like #2 as well, but I hate white portions. Why oh WHY don't they make them in originals?

Call me crazy, but I really don't like this snus very much. It's taken me 5 months to finally finish the tin, and I will not reorder.

Göteborgs is kind of an acquired taste, I think. I ended up liking #2 immediately, except for the white portion thing.

But the first Swedish Snus I ever had was Gotebörgs regular. I thought the juniper/herbal taste was interesting, but I wasn't accustomed to the salt content yet. So by the time I was halfway through the can, it tasted kinda like I was sucking on an olive.

But eventually I tried it in lös, and it was Love At First Pris.

I wish they made it in loose.

I liked the GR #2 flavor (not too potent, nor very salty), but as I previously seldom used tobacco the nicotine hit me very hard. I'll have to stick to Catch for now before upgrading.

I hate all of you who convinced me to buy GR#2!

I'll be half way through my work day and get a craving for one out of nowhere. It is coming close to my love for Phantom Blue.

GR2 is great unfortunatly im heavy smoker and need a lil bit more nicotine so it becomes more of an occasional snus vs onyx or N&J

                          Here's a quick question:

I had a bit of a nasty 'reaction' to GR #2 which I attributed to a higher nicotine content than Catch, but looking over the statistics for Catch and GR #2, they're both 8mg per portion. Could it have been a reaction to the flavor itself? I liked the flavor, but it made me a bit ill into the next day.

                            Welcome Raptor!

IMO, if you haven't had the same reaction to any other snus, I don't think it was the Nicotine level since they both have the same level. It may be the Lingonberry flavoring. :?

I get a queasy stomach if I chain snus Skruf Stark lös or, any strong lös for that matter.

I'm going to give GR #2 another try tonight. If my head starts spinning again, I'll make sure to toss it instead of letting it fester for half an hour.

I really want to like it.

                              Meanwhile, I'm digging J's Ice-Fruit.
