    Great snus's going bad quick.

Ok. I've had gotland's gul, gra and gron.
gul and gra i've had loose. gron in portion of course.
Then I've had jacobsson's and the ice fruit version.

All of them taste absolutely spectacular upon the first couple of uses.
After that, the taste goes down the tubes. The freshness and bite is just not there anymore. Compared to rather cheap and not so 'finely tuned' snus, these i would consider a fragile snus. I've found LD keeps a particularly consistent taste throughout as well as most swedish match brands. They're not the cream of the crop but the taste fails to diminish as quick as some of the 'top of the line' stuff.
I've had the same happen with the 1847. That was my official favorite for the first try and now it's relegated to blah.

Anybody else have this extremely depressing issue?

I've only had the Gra, and I find it goes bitter after a while...

Are you saying that the taste becomes bitter due to your tastebuds and acclimation to the snus, or because something happens after the can has been opened?

I personally don't think that opening the can could have much effect on this snus, because if you'll note, the way the can is sealed means that you reseal it with the same quality each time you use it. I would actually argue that this snus probably dries out less than the types sealed with the SM and Offroad methods.

However, I've noticed that the Gotland snuses do tend to be more bitter. I love the Gotland Gras because I like somewhat bitter anis flavor. It's what I would call a refined, mature, and perhaps acquired taste; but I find that in the long run I prefer it over the candied licorice tastes of Offroad or LD Black (although I like those a lot as well). What it lacks in sheer yummy sweetness it more than makes up for in bittersweet complexity and depth. However, I do not like Gotland Gul, unless I have a strong cup of coffee with it. The bitterness just doesn't seem to mix with the citrus.

      Good topic by the way.

My experience has been the exact opposite....

Gotlands (and Skruf for that matter) IMO tend to become more tasty over time, especially the Gron and Jakobsson's.

I also fail to notice the bitterness in Gotlands that a lot of forum members have referred to......sometimes I will get a slight hint of it, but the snus is so well balanced that it is canceled out by the other flavours.....but then again I dislike sweet stuff so perhaps my tastes just veer towards the more bitter flavours...

        One question.....

When using Gotlands do you use it in conjunction with other snus?

For example will you have Gul lös and GR#2 open at the same time? Two such disparate types of snus may cause the bitterness of Gotlands to be more pronounced. Maybe try sticking to just Gotlands for a couple of days to see if that changes things?
