Guess what? ANOTHER new snuser with her first order!

I can't even imagine how many of these threads you guys must get around here!

Yesterday my very first order from Northerner showed up. I got:

    Tre Ankare white portion
    Goteborgs Rape white
    General portion silver
    Catch Licorice
    Catch Dry eucalyptus
    Catch Eucalyptus
    General portion
    General white portion
    Catch Dry Cassis Menthol

As a long time menthol smoker I dove into the cassis menthol first. The first few minutes were quite nice, a slightly fruity taste, not too bad at all, but then, ugh. It became an overpowering bitterness that I just could not stomach after about 10 minutes. No thanks

Today I opened up the CD Eucalyptus and aside from some initial SALT LICK IN MY MOUTH leaking right after I put it in, it's really quite nice. After around 10 minutes the salt is gone completely and I am left with just tobacco and cool, I enjoy it tremendously.

I want to try the general white tonight, I think. I've heard good things about that one as well. I think my biggest issue so far with snus is the saltiness. I'm just not accustomed to such overwhelmingly salty flavors quite yet

Welcome aery!! Great choices you have made for a first order. As you use snus more, you'll get to the point where you won't notice the saltiness as much. The General White portion is a good snus to start with. It has a great flavor of tobacco and citrus. The portions are a little bigger than the Catch but, you'll see. Just remember, everyone here is always willing to offer suggestions and help and, there is no such thing as a silly questions, just silly answers!

      Welcome to the forum!
If the minty/ mentholy snus is what your after; youl find no shortage of types to try.
You will get used to the salt fairly soon. I think it's safe to say that I would only notice it, if it were not there.
On your order: my tastes differ signifigently from the order. I prefer Los and only use portions when I have to, but I do like Tre Ankare alot.

Keep on trying 'em out. You'll expeirience revulsion and happiness never thought possible from something so strange and simple as flavored, salted, ground vegetable matter.

Welcome to the site Aery. Do you bake? I'm referring to food....not snus.

I personally thought silly answers were not allowed on this site. :P

If you want to try a variety of snus at decent prices go to the snus exchange and look around

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

          Welcome aery,

Good choices on your order. I enjoy Catch Eucalyptus as well and enjoying a portion right now. If you want a good minty flavored snus try Triumph Mint. Very little salt taste, good nic hit and long lasting flavor. You will get used to salt taste. Recommend that you toss your order in the frig for a few hours before opening. This helped me with dealing with the salt runs. 8)

Y.. yes.. I am an avid baker actually and have a boule proofing as I type

I really appreciate this forum, you guys are awesome, I love reading about the different flavors and options available.

I keep seeing the Triumph Mint popping up, so I think that will be in my next order for sure, as well as the catch peppermint. I haven't even made it through one tin out of my nine and I am planning my next order, safe to say I am a convert

Edit to add: Ok, just got around to trying this general white and MAN is it tasty, opening the can I was hit by the aroma of citrus, mostly lemon, a little orange. Popping it in, there is VERY little salt (i put it in front first and then move it to the side where I have more space) it's just really refreshingly citrusy and enjoyable. This is a really nice snus for a beginner.

Hi aery - welcome to the forum. Unfortunately Triumph is only available in two markets currently; Georgia and Ohio. I would further guess that it won't be going national. The displays here aren't showing great sales at all; for a while you would get a free can with a pack of cigs (and if you asked for two or three, well, they usually wouldn't complain). Also, Triumph are "marketed for American tastes", which you should read as "extremely sweet and artificially flavored". The Mint isn't too bad, but you can do way better, IMO.

Maybe some of the GA/OH forum members can hook you up...generally the cans go for around $1.25, so it shouldn't be expensive for you.

                Welcome aery,

And after 20+ months snusing, and 12 of those spent here, I NEVER get tired of reading posts like yours. In fact, these are always my favorite posts. Life is REALLY busy for me right now, and I am not here nearly as much as I like, and when I do step in, yours was the first post I read!!!

It reminds me of when I first discovered snus, and I always love remembering it. And thinking about the amazing journey of snus discovery you have ahead of you.

I think it is a strong first order. Once you are through with it, post your reactions to each one, and we can point you in some suggestions for what you might like for your 2nd order.

And I hope you stick around!!

You can order the Triumph snus here
                  http://www.tobaccomkt.com/mm5/mercha...damericansnuff

Some of the shops in Ga and Ohio can't keep it on the shelves it sells so well. Thats the feedback I have received so far. Sales of it are doing well and it should be marketed elsewhere before long.

Denver Co. is in America so I'm thinkin you are American and have American tastes. So you should at least give it a try. Although it is kind of sweet for a swedish made snus. I can only handle 1 or 2 portions a day. But I NEED that portion or 2 or my day isn't complete. There are alot of people that simply love it. And like everything, some people don't.

Its $3 to $5 a tin [depending on where you buy it] when it isn't on special.

Good Luck and post some photos in the ugly mug thread. Heres the link

I just tried my first General Portion (not the white) and I wanted to cry. General white is my very favorite so far so I honestly thought I would like this as well but it is HUGE, and painfully salty, I couldnt last more than 5 minutes with this and now my stomach is killing me.

I was out yesterday with the stomach flu, so granted, this may have been a little too soon for something stronger, but I'm a little gunshy at the moment and have no other varieties here at work with me today.

If you want really HUGE try a General Maxi. I wasn't sure it would fit under my lip. My wife said it looked like I had swollen lip from a bee sting.

hahah no, I think I will pass. I am really preferring the smaller portions I have.

White/good = Original/better is not always the case. I like Ettan White for the flavor of the tobacco, but Ettan Original has too much of the smoke flavoring on it... You just have to try them out to see, and if you don't like it, save it in the freezer and revisit it in a month or throw it out. Life's too short to use snus that you don't like...
