    Discreet and Pro Snus...article

Ive heard Discreet snus a couple of times here on the forum....I found an article worth checking out, sounds like another producer going for the American sweet tooth.

The more and more I have been using authentic swedish snus the more frusterated I get with the American domestic offerings.

Now, granted, Camel S(yrup)nus is what got me to quick smoking, but the sweetness of the portions was overpowering and the price is just plain stupid.

My current kick is Gotenborgs Rape No2, Lucky Strike, Tre Ankare and 1847. I have a ton of Triumph Original (like 15 more lol) and a few mints around. They are more like a desert snus because of the sweetness of them.

The only snus I have tried that is even remotely sweet would be Wise Citrus / Menthol. The rest of just not sweet, and I find them much more enjoyable.

Triumph - Sweet (although less than the others by far)
    Camel - Super sweet
    Skoal - Super sweet
Klondike - Sweet, about on par with Triumph but the loose is completely not even snus. It's american style cut with a really low moisture content. It is a very hard product to upper deck.

Where the hell are the savory flavors?

Just because almost all American dips are sweet, does not mean that snus is sweet.

    grrrrr.....

I would use a domestic brand if there were one that was satisfactory.

Pro Snus, play like a pro. Haha.

I hate Norway for not importing more brands, I see you all talk about a lot of brands I've not even heard about.

        Break For Tobacco Customers
        By CSD Staff

American Smokeless unveils its ’economic stimulus’ package.

Recognizing that consumers are struggling to purchase tobacco products following last month's hefty increase in the federal excise taxes, South Bostan, Va.-based American Smokeless Tobacco LLC announced its 2009 economic stimulus package.

American Smokless, the only independent manufacturer of pasturized snus in five flavors in the U.S., will reduce the price on Discreet snus up to 75%. This reduction willhelp stimulate those who do not have the option to smoke and those that wish to reduce their smoking but still desire the satisfaction of and natural tobacco product to try its Discreet snus brand.

"American Smokeless understands that lean economic times and across the board tobacco tax increases are not only hurting consumers, but also causing concern among the employees of the tobacco industry," the company said in a statement announcing the stimulus plan.

It is anticipated that with the increased demand for Descreet snus and locally grown tobacco being used in its manufacture will preserve regional jobs that would be lost due to the declines in cigarette smoking, the company added.
They need some new copywriters @ CSD that know how to spell.

Their site claims each portion has .4 grams of tobacco. Why can't more American companies manufacture regular sized or loose snus?

Lol that Pro snus with baseball batters on it and the slowgan "play like a pro" or whatever looks so gay. I would never see that somewhere and want to buy it, worst packaging EVER.

Look at a can of Skruf or most swedish brands and you want to buy it not even caring what the product inside is lol.

Now that cracked me up!!! ROFL

                    as far as the article:
“smokers are also increasingly trying out moist pouch tobacco, which has propelled that product’s market share in the smokeless category. Honestly, I don’t know whether that’s because they want to cut back on cigarette smoking or they’re using it simply when they can’t smoke, or both,” says Bruce. “We hope that consumers will be driven towards the snus, since it’s a pasteurized product and we don’t have the spit issue.”
                    A fair statement
*The company has even trademarked the slogan “Join the Snus Revolution,” a reflection of its belief that snus is indeed the future of tobacco.
I believe this may be true also
Try Swedish Snus! Where they have been regulated and doing it right for over 200 yrs.

horrid visual design. The idea of the metalized bag is pretty interesting though. That's what the american chew like red man comes in. I used to be able to keep mine in my back pocket with no discomfort

The Discreet packaging looks nice. But wtf were they thinking on the Pro Snus packaging? What does snus have to do with sports? Why even name it "Pro"? Just WTF?!

Also, the guy quoted in that article uses the word "vehicle" far too often in ways that anger me.
