    Traditional Tobacco-Flavored Snus

I'm waiting to place my next big restocking order until Getsnus starts carrying Gotland products. I figured in the meantime, I'd place a smaller order to try out some new plain-tobacco flavors that I haven't sampled yet. I find myself really loving some of the traditional flavors, so I think I might be able to find a new staple amongst the ranks of the following:

    Grov loose
    Granit loose
    Goteburg's Prima Fint
    Knox Loose
    LD Loose

    ***

Anybody have a good idea on how these compare with snus such as General, RL, Gotland Gul, or Ettan? I think it would be interesting for us to discuss the more traditional-flavored snuses (ie: mostly plain, perhaps a little bit of citrus, you get my drift).

I'm starting to like flavored snus less and less, and liking tobacco flavore more. Licorice is about the only flavor that I really like anymore.

For loose snus they are all quite good in their own regard. Personal preference will no doubt dictate a favorite.

LD is the lone I have not tried.

For a basic tobacco snus I reach for Granit or General. Outside to the fringes of basic I love Skruf Strak loose.

Knox is very nice as well coming from Skruf. It is more basic and hearty, without skruf's flavor additions, A good loose, a real staple.

Granit is dry and coarse. It sometimes is difficult to keep together in the lip. Always a bold tangy flavor. Subtle notes of coffee.

Prima Fint is in taste sublime. In pris it is fickle. Treat it right and satisfaction and flavor will be your reward. Treat it wrong and you will need a rinse to extricate from your lip. Not the sweet up front a la Roda.

Grov in loose is hearty and robust. Made for the bonde.

Ettan, the one. Almost a creaminess that melts with the nicotine pleasure. Absent are the peppery snaps that the General imposes.

Probe to include. Chocolate cake for your face. So basic, so rich, the flavor is full.

Tobacco up front is snus we all want. Unaltered to excess, more sometimes means less. Plain and salty, nicotine and spice, No mint, no menthol, no sugar, so nice.

Granit s the poor mans version of general. It has an earthy close to dirt after taste or dirty carrots.

Grov is one of my favorite snuses nothing but tobacco. Also i should say you should try ettan its grovs salty evil twin brother seperated at birth and stalking around town looking for conflict. Ettan is also one of my favorite snuses.

The LD isn't that bad, but nothing special about it to write about. Sub-par.

Prima-flint isn't that bad, but if you want juniper try phantom blue much better taste in my opinion.

Thank you guys for the helpful feedback! I've tried Ettan, and it really seems like a solid plain snus, although I personally like the pepper taste in General. I'm excited to try these, even more so after reading some of your comments. Is Prima Fint Juniper flavored? I've tried Phantom Blue and Gote Rape. It's cool once in a while, but I think I prefer either anis or more plain.

Prima Fint is very mild - unflavoured as far as I can tell. It has a light, earthy flavour and a clean, pure tobacco taste.

there is no unflavored snus available on the market "dispites what it says on the can"

an unflavored snus should taste WERRY bitter becuse tobacco is extremely bitter in taste..

the basic flavor they/we use in Gotlandssnus ORIGINAL is rose, maple, citrus.

I hope to solv some of your mystery in the snusmarketing buisness

I don't like Granit, but love LD. Knox is good stuff too. I'd try some Gustavus if I were you.

Of your list, I've had the Grov, Knox, and Prima Fint:

Grov loose is wonderful snus, great stuff. 'Nuff said.

Knox is a very good bang for buck. Clean tobacco taste, with a bit of bite to it. It doesn't seem to last as long as some of the more premium snus though.

Prima Fint is so mellow that it's almost as though there's nothing there, at least not enough for me. But what is there is very smooth and subtle. It's not a keeper for me, but I can understand why some would favor it.

When it comes to 'traditional' snus tastes... General and Ettan are the crown-holders in this league. However, if you like General... i've REALLY started to like Pall Mall.

Put it this way, I've used General for about 18 months now solidly... I try other stuff obviously, but always come back to the General. Granit is kinda similar as others have said, but not quite the same. Knox is great in its own way and definitely a contender considering the price. However, Pall Mall is the only snus I've tried which I actually prefer to General. Definitely recommend giving it a spin.

LD (to me) has some strong pepper notes compared to General and Ettan. I think it tastes a lot like skruff stark.
