Yes my tins both say "STARK" - with an 'A'. As you say, they've been in Norway for a while so the Norwegian tins may have been about first and now with the introduction to Sweden they're printing Swedish labelled tins. :?:

This Nick & Johnny is a swedish match brand? Swedish match seems to have it down when it comes to snus.

I don't know the exact numbers (at all) buy my guess is that Swedish Match has the snus market all but cornered. They have about 90~95% of the market in Sweden (natte vinger werk = wild guess).
I just can't remember where I got the figure from...

Maybe Starwing knows more as he's the snus-related-URL-sponge around here it seems.

Do you think swedish match have that high of a market share? I mean, just considering Gallaher, Skruf, and Fiedler & Lundgren - plus a few other smaller players, they certainly have competition. I wouldn't doubt that swedish match are the dominant player, likely even the majority, but as high as 90%?

In that fancy booklet that came with my snus loose swedish match pack it said General was 40% of the market in sweden. I'm not sure if that number reflects other countries though.

Yeah, that's also true...between General, Ettan, and possibly Roda, that's a load of the market right there.

                Well I'll be damned :

"Swedish Match's market share amounted to 95 percent according to the latest Nielsen estimates."

Well regardless of who makes it, it is pretty darn good. Zero's original description hit pretty well.

Hello all. I am new here and this is my first post. I have only been using snus for about 2 weeks, Nick and Johnny was the first snus I ever tried. I got the "mix" from buysnus and got it free as a gift. I am kind of disappointed that I decided to use this can first because so far nothing else I have tried compares to it. I loved the taste and hit it gave. It sounds like Skruf stark is similar. Might have to give it a try.

Welcome coffey, so far Skruf Stark is my favorite snus. I have two cans of nick and johnny coming my way.

Do you prefer portion or loose?

Well so far I have only had portion. But I am going to put in an order for some loose. Prolly some Nick and Johnny and Skruf to compare and contrast the two.

Imperial Tobacco, makers of Skruf and Knox

Imperial Tobacco is the parent company of Skruf (pronounced 'Skroof' and Knox brands of Swedish snus. Skruf is probably the second most popular snus brand in Sweden and one of the top most popular snus brands in the growing American market.

Skruf was started by two life long friends who saw an opportunity to make a big future for a small product - Jonas Engwall and Adam Gillberg.

Life long friends and entrepreneurs, Jonas and Adam, sat down in 2001 to discuss how they could use their skills gained in the world of finance to build a business in an area they were passionate about.
