I hope you didn't make the same mistake as I and buy Kicks Winter Green. As if the taste wasn't bad enough on itself, I had a tiny hangover when trying... One of my (few) worst experiences with snus :x . Granit is almost OK, the pouches are bit different than in most cases, and snus itself seems to be a bit "loose" in some strange way.

But in the end it's a matter of taste, just thought I should warn people about that Winter Green-crap

I prefer the traditional swedish flavors/flavours. Not a big wintergreen fan.

Yea, it's good to try things so you know what you like (remember, topic is snus  ). Wild berry is actually pretty good, had almost forgot it. Not the best snus with a fruity/berry flavour but pretty decent stuff anyway.

The one you like the most. For example most people seem to like the berry-ish Goteborgs Rape #2 - I don't. Just try a few.

I've also tried Skruf Tranbär which has a very nice cranberry flavor.
I have a can of Bacco cranberry portions but haven't opened it yet.

Well I think Skruf Orginal Potion Is the best non Swedish Match snus, Skruf Stärk potion doesn't have the same quality on the bags and the potions are to wet. When it comes to loose snus I think Skruf there to. Skruf Tranbär is really good sometimes, but I get really tired of the taste after 1box of it. Orginal taste is the only taste I don't get tired of.

Wow, look what I've found! http://www.orlik.dk/sw490.asp I had no idea that we had a danish snus producer (okay, F & L is actually danish but has moved to Malmö in Sweden).

Quick translation of the Orlik snus presentation:

                    (all loose snus)

Borholmsk snus (snus from Bornholm, danish island south of Sweden)
Combination of Kentucky tobacco with a spicy and sweet 'sauce'/aroma. Taste: Spicy

                    C.W.O. sort snus (black snus)
Combination of Kentucky tobacco with af powerful aromatic 'sauce'/aroma flavoured with lemon oil. Taste: Lemon

                    Göteborg snus (WTF?)
Combination of Kentucky and Virginia tobacco flavoured with a mellow 'sauce'/aroma. Taste: Fruity

RF sort snus med pebermynte (black snus with peppermint)
Combination of Kentucky tobacco with af aroma of peppermint. Taste: Powerful peppermint

Hmm, guess I'll have to try them.

I'd like to hear your opinion of the bacco cranberry portions as the loose was very wet and juicy and the taste didn't sit well for me.

Yea Goteborgs Rape no2 and Skruf Cranberry portions I like. I'm primarily a loose snuser though.

That's cool. Where can we buy that danish snus (orlik).

                        skruf Tranbar is good.

Gotesborg no 2 and L.D cranberry I will try soon.

Just got some level, granit, kicks original and wild berry, can't wait to try im. My mouths watering just thinking about it.

Oh well... it's almost time to open up another can of portions so I'll take the Bacco out of the freezer and let you know later on tomorrow.

Hm, never seen it in the shops ... I'll do some research on this very well kept secret of the snus world. Not everyday you discover a 'new' brand of smokeless.

Today I found one of the 'secret' danish snus types! I was scouting for some skruf and suddenly in a little kiosk- not far from my home - I saw a tower of small greys plastic cans in the bottom of a fridge. And there it was; Orliks so called 'Göteborg snus'.

Bought a can and went straight home to test it. Heres my impression:

First of all, the can is quite small due to the fact that it only contains 40 grams, but its somewhat stylish in its own minimalistic grey'n'brown way. When opening it I notice a slightly fruity aroma from distance (20 - 30 cm), its not far from Göteborgs Rapé but not nearly as characteristic or pointy. Up close (nose in can) the aroma changes to something not entirely unlike General, but with a very strong smell of ammonia to it. This makes me suspect an evil little fella, and when gently pressing the surface I begin to suspect it even more; never have I felt such an oily and saucy snus in my life! I therefore decide to form a pris the good ol' way instead of using my Icetool. I want to really feel this. I grab a pinch with three fingers and start working it in my other hand. Hm, seems okay at first. Very fine, almost like wet powder. I form a smooth barrel, everything seems fine, but as I try to flip it up under my lip it breaks apart! What?, I think. This almost never happen to me. I grab my Icetool and try again. This time I make sure pack it even harder. And Whoop, up it goes, no problem. For a while nothing happens. Then something. The first wave of flavour. Expecting it to be spicy and strong Im quite surprised of how sweet it is. First thing that struck my mind was the (also danish) chewing tobacco Oliver Twist. Those of you who have tried it know how insanely sweet it is, and I find the taste of Orliks Göteborg snus almost identical. I keep waiting for the sweetness to fade away and maybe make room for some fruity-spicy-whateverness, but it just keeps on going. And then - after only 10 minutes - it breaks apart. I didnt even play with it or anything, it just gave up and collapsed. I cant figure out why ... its not because its dry, it cant be, its all wet! And the fine texture should in theory assist on keeping the pris together ... I just dont get it.
I tried once again with the Icetool, but same thing happened after about 20 minutes - and still no surprises on the taste-scene! Just maybe a tiny hint of tobacco (somewhere between Rapé and General) once in a while. Nothing else. The nic buzz is moderate/low.

Not my cup of tea, thats for sure. Maybe users of some of the US stuff would like it ... their stuff is apparently pretty sweet.

Btw I mailed the guys at the Orlik company the other day, asking them about where to buy their snus products. Got forwarded a couple of times and now the 'case' is - I think - in the right hands. Still waiting though. (should be easy information to access ....... )

In case they dont export the stuff or sell it online, I wouldnt mind sending a few cans to a few of the good people in here.

Well, one down, three to go ....

                              8)
