Snusing and smoking are two radically different things. In fact, the only commonality is nicotine from tobacco.

I failed to quit cigarettes last year after I took up snusing and when I did return to cigarettes, it was like being reunited with my best friend. I'm off again, but not one hour of a day goes by without my wanting a cigarette. So don't be intolerant of someone reluctant to give up smoking for this smokeless product. We know snusing is healthier, but most smokers just won't give up for health reasons. They know the truth. They ignore it. That's properly their choice. The smoking habit/addiction is powerful, powerful. It's not about "reason."

Never look down your nose at cigarette smokers with the superior air of a snuser. Pity their dependence on that form of addiction. And help when you can to introduce them to a healthier use of tobacco.
i agree, but, i already did so before you replied:

"or bite the bullet of ravaged health and looked down upon in return (that is obviously of course if they know what snus is and look down upon it and its users)"

i'm saying if they look down upon snus and it's users, they should expect the same in return for their pure cognitive dissonance that isin conjunction with condescension. not just cognitive dissonance, as everyone has that in one form or another, hence why i also said that i can understand the initial apprehension.
as far as claiming their stuck smoking in regards to safety, not taste, is what i meant. if they think smoking is the greatest or equal to oral in health risks, their either ignorant, or a dumbass after they see the data. if they just want to keep smoking, and don't have a problem dealing with the health risks and the other problems, fine...but i better not hear them whine and moan and see them raise an eyebrow or roll their eyes at snus. initially maybe, not throughout when they know exactly what it is and the risks of it.

i can understand the differences between smoking and snusing as i used to smoke myself and i miss the puffing on the smoke and the quick feeling it gives. i don't look down on smokers and i do pity them for their widespread ignorance of snus and want to help them but it's kind of awkward going around saying 'hey pal, have ya heard of the new snus?" "no i haven't, what is it?" like some 50's commercial with brylcreme loaded hair.

it's obviously not a problem to me that they don't know what snus is.
but when they know what it it is, it's one thing to not switch merely out of habit or taste, but to not switch and think it's for losers or WORSE than what you're using, then, no, that's just stubborn-ass stupidity like i said.

i know i'm not very clear with what i say, there's a shade of grey here i'm sitting on and most people hear what i say and assume either black or white depending on the situation.

This applies to both sexes, though perhaps a tad more so for girls.
It's a surefire way for me to judge how "adventurous" or "willing to try new things" anyone is. And I'm not directly implying anything sexual either. Just a common "open mind" and "adaptability". The kind that'll actually support you through the worst of times and surprise the pants off of you (no pun intended there either, honestly). Prime life-partner stock I guess.
I know a handful of these types. Real easy to get along with and -not surprisingly- usually have more male friend than female (and most I know not having any real "girly" girlfriends). None made any weird faces or had any comments about the snus.

yeah, that's what i meant when i said " i guess that's a minority for people in general it seems"

like you said, i've also noticed too that a lot of the chicks who are more open about things that aren't revolving around some superficial gender role will tend to have more guy friends than girls...some in fact don't like the majority of girls because of it...they want to have girls for friends but know that many of them are flaky or they see their gender in a bad light because they feel the majority gives the gender a bad name because of their behavior. the same way some guys can't stand a lot of the rest of guys because the guys are flaky as well in some equivalent manner..like being all macho over stuff (as opposed to excessively dainty) and the guys who don't fully subscribe to that mentality tend to have more girls for friends than guys.

          women snusers

I'm a woman...but I'm the adventure type...no rules here. I can see why women don't want a big wad of tobacco under their lip...but wow....its just so much better than smoking. I smoked for 20 some odd years and this stuff is really doing the trick. Also I think loose is more comfortable than portion. The loose stays in place better..at least for me. Keep prodding your girlfriends/wives....this is a much better way to kick the butts than patches or gum.

Yay! Finally I managed to make my girlfriend try some Ettan lös. We were drunk, but that doesn't matter - the point is, she tried and didn't actually hate it either.

I'm astonished. I am snusing for three months now (after 20 years of smoking). Very easily, I taste better the tobacco. But among my friends, the only who dared to taste the snus were women, and one of them actually quit recently the smoke for the snus.
And now she has a girl friend who seems interested. We have organized a snus degustation Sunday ... can't wait ...
My guy friends run away, especially the smokers (with one exception to be exact, but he kept smoking: he believes that he needs the gesture, and that could be the case).

                Welcome to the forum.
As for only the women wanting to try; I'd theorize that they think you're the man-bomb and already like you a lot and thus want to try these kinky snus things you provide. ;-)

On the other hand it could've been the girls didn't like the other dudes you were with and wanted a way to make 'em go away (= not approach their faces? Hahaha).

It could be anything. Just enjoy the kicking of smoking. Once you snus you will despise smokes. That's a promise!

........I'm up for switching girls anytime. If my wife would let me.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

That might not have been the kind of switching he was talking about :^P

Are we talking the old chewing-gum-sharing-trick here?

Thanks. Once I get more time I intend to introduce myself by telling my tobacco-story. There are so much to say on tobacco and snus ...

... and so it looks I have convinced two women to switch smoking for snusing, indeed

Er ... no we have not practise "switching" the portions themselves, not yet

I enjoy very much the forum. Bye.

                              Women and snus

Hi all! Newbie to both the site and snus. I was curious, since I know very few women who dip, if there might be more who use snus since it lacks the "disgusting" need to spit!? I have done a fair share of smoking and diping and find snus to be not just a great stop smoking aide but an enjoyable alternative to dip. Waiting not so patiently on my first shipment of the real stuff. So far I've only had camel and offroad and have liked both. ANYWAY.... Just wondering if there are many women users lol! BTW I'm that badfish's wife! LOL

Hiya, welcome to sunos!!(I'm leaving this typo here so everyone can see what a retard I am :^D)

We have a few women here, but Premium Parrots usually scares them off. Desirexe is the most active I believe. You may get some negative feedback in America still for using oral tobacco, but it's much more accepted in Scandinavia. A friend of mine that went to Norway, said he saw plenty of women at the clubs using snus.
