    Oh, the sorrow ...

Way too late I realize that the Gellivare Snusfabrik is out of business! When did this happen?

Why is it that all the good lös variants keeps dissappearing?!?! Diplomat, N&J, Gellivare, Landströms ... all history now. So sad.

One fine day I'm gonna start up a small production of my own super-lös (or several kinds of tributes to above mentioned), that's for sure. Been thinking about that for while now.

It happened some months ago. Basically they got screwed over by some stupid tobacco double taxation law and ended up with an enormous bill backdated to god knows when. Terrible way for a company to go under - suffocated by its own government. :?

This is horrible. And you're absolutely right, Zero - this is the dark side of a über-socialist state. And same thing applies to the rest of this happy version of DDR that we call Scandinavia. What a bummer.

They made my favorite lös snus, and Landströms is what got me into lös. I bought it for the tin, since it had a unique shape, but ended up loving the snus. My previous lös experience was Ettan, and I didn't see the point... I couldn't really taste it.

          See this thread http://www.snuson.com/viewtopic.php?...er=asc&start=0

I got a ginormous tub of Landströms, but I'm not completely happy with the way it turned out. I wanted to distribute some of this through some kind of unique method, but the snus isn't up to par. It has a sharp bite that I'm not sure how to get rid of. I've thought about spritzing it with salt water, but I don't want to go overboard on the salt. I added licorice flavor to one tin, and curiously enough, that one tastes closest to the way it's meant to taste. It started of mapley, but now it just tastes like Landströms :^/

Interesting. I see your point with the salt but on the other hand it might not be such a bad idea. If I should critizise Landströms and Gellivare (which is not easy for me) it would be the somewhat low salt levels. I like a salty snus and I remember thinking that both of them could easily carry another dash.

I wouldn't mind a bit more salt myself, but I'm afraid of boogering it up. Salt's tough to remove once it's in, and that might not even fix the "bite" problem. I've put most of it in separate tins, and I might try some experimentation on individual tins to see if I can get it straightened out.

Well, Landstroms will forever live on in memory as my pokerstars player avatar.

I took a picture of the lid of the can and its now a representation of myself.

I loved it too and only had 3 cans of it before it was discontinued.

Hate to see such a gr8 company disappear like that.

                  "Biting" snus

If the bite has any bearing on acidity, try a sprinkle of baking soda in the tin, a vigorous shake and an hour in the pocket to sweat together.
This should mellow it and add the bit of saltiness as well.
                  :? Snus ON !!!

It's definitely not acidity because snus is already mixed with a good amount of baking soda and is, in fact, alkaline to begin with. Adding more baking soda will usually make your snus more alkaline and will increase the burn and nicotine kick as the higher pH drives more of the nicotine to freebase condition, where it is more easily absorbed by your skin.

Usually it's budget brands which have more of a burn because the tobacco used is of lower quality - more leaf bottom rather than tips, etc - and has less nicotine to begin with. More baking soda is added to make the most of the nicotine which is there, but at the expense of a high soda loading ("hospital aroma") and some sacrifice in flavour.

Zero, your wisdom makes you snus king. You really should go work for a snus company in R&D.

I think Zero would make an excellent Secretary general of the UN. Or possibly Pope....

Yea but wouldn't it be cool to wear that crazy hat and be driven around in the Pope-mobile?

I mixed up four or five flavors of the Gellivare for Airwoodstock and he said it turned out good. Maybe he can elaborate on this [I'm not a los guy]. Mr. LXS, I put in the recommended amount of the sodium powder that came with the tubs. And as for the flavoring, I used four drops per 50 gram tin. It seemed to turn out fine.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I miss the cans they came in too, very classy and much like the old classic tins.
