    When I first reported to PP, I thought the snus had turned out very well. After a week or so I noticed the bite. I had added a bit more sodium carbonate than the recipe called for, but it was in the ballpark, and shouldn't have affected it much one way or the other.

    What's really odd is the licorice I added to one of the tins... First off it didn't taste like licorice, it was more like natural maple syrup...You know, not intensely flavored like the artificial maples. After a couple of weeks that flavor disappeared and it tastes exactly the way Landströms should taste :^/

      There's probably a certain amount of 'waiting time' when they make it proper in the factory. Like when you make a stew and it doesn't taste right until the second or third day - that sort of thing. The humectants and flavourings probably take a bit of time to work their way through the tobacco, any chemical reactions may take time to settle down, chemicals will oxidise, some will evaporate, etc. Call it 'maturation time' or whatever, but I would bet that proper flavour takes a bit of waiting to come about. I noticed Gustavus snuses were really notable for that - often you would get them and they would be really fresh from the factory, but would carry a weird sort of chemical odour until you let them sit for a while, air out a bit, etc. Then it was brilliant and tasty stuff.
