    Kardus @ Buysnus

Kardus is now available for those of you lucky enough to be able to afford it.

$62.50 USD for 100 Grams and they recomend UPS shipping so that the box will not be damaged, which would maake it almost 100 bucks for 1 can.

    Whew.

Those of you getting some please let us know how great this is.

Looks like ill be waiting til next year.

I'll be waiting till ...hmmm... let's see.... NEVER! Come on, Swedish Match! If you all really want to do a loose snus special release, how about limited quantities of N & J loose? I'd be wiling to pay roughly double the regular price of a loose for that.

I think I am going to get it. I'll call it my Christmas present to myself

Only problem is that I am flying to Cape Town tomorrow for two weeks so I can't have it sent to my office.

Emailed Buysnus to hear if they will hang onto a box for me if I pay up front and then ship it when I get back. I really hope they would be cool with that.

lxskllr, what is the best way to store the Kardus and does it have an expiry date on it like other snus?

Man, if I had that kind of money right now ... Ah well, maybe next year.

Sounds good though. "spicy Tropics combined with barren, windswept Scottish moors". Got me drooling!

Actually, 100 grams is about 2 cans worth, so it would average $31.25 per can. Still pretty expensive though...

I like how they advertise that you should use it in quiet. I suppose I could get my wife to buy me some for Christmas, then tell her to go away!

I still have some from last year, and it's in perfect shape. There's a plastic tub inside the wood box. I took the tub out and put it in the fridge. I don't know how that compares with the official handling instructions, but it worked pretty well for me.

£66 to the UK but still tempting. I guess it is only the same price as a decent bottle of whisky and I get paid soon!

I like to indulge, but that seems too obscene even for me. $100.oo for two cans worth of something I'vener tried. All in a hunk of wood. Handmade I get, Was it handmade by nubile young hymen intact priestesses who inlaid their soul in to each morsel.?

I'm the first one here who has no problem dropping a note for some bourbon, for some snus maybe 45 is my limit,

                  love to hear the reviews,,

Here's my review from last year...

Ok, here's my impressions of Kardus. Keep in mind that I'm not the best taster, so a food , or wine connoisseur will probably find all kinds of things in there that I don't taste ;^)

                    Texture:

This is very coarse, kind of like an American long cut dip, though I'm going from a distant memory in that regard. It sort of "bakes" up tight, though there's little fingers of tobacco that stick out when you're finished. It doesn't leave a wet mess in your hand when finished. Just a small wet spot, and almost no waste tobacco left, very clean. I've found I need to keep the pris on the smaller side because the coarse cut hurts my gums a tad when I have too much in. Once it's under your lip, it can take a lot of poking/prodding, and even pulling the whole thing down to suck on a little :^O. I get the occasional little pieces, that fall, but nothing like normally ground snus. The only way this would go to mud, is if you left it in long enough for your saliva to dissolve it.

                    Flavor:

This is the part I have the hardest time with. The flavors are quite subtle, and I'm not sure I have the taste buds to describe what I'm getting. The flavor's very light, and closest to Landströms in my very limited lös snus experience. I would say the predominate flavor is grass, with a light, pleasant bitterness going beneath that. There's a hint of vanilla, and I thought I tasted butterscotch when I first put it in, but that may have been leftover flavor from my hazelnut coffee soda :^P. It's very light on the salt, which is good because the flavor would be overpowered if it had the typical Swedish salt load. Chewing on little pieces that have been in awhile give a cigar like flavor, with a nice non-synthetic smokiness, while sucking on the whole pris gives an almost bready taste(hard to describe).

I'm very happy with this overall, though I don't think I'd buy rolls of it if it were available more cheaply. This would be an occasional buy, for when I wanted something a little different from the typical snus. The thing I like best, is the completely natural taste, That's devoid of overpowering flavors. This would be a good snus for a dry red wine, or perhaps a dry sherry, and of course coffee. I think I'd stay away from espresso though, because I think it would stomp all over the snus' flavor.

If I were to make a buying recommendation, I would suggest getting 1 can of this snus. It's quite different from any other snus out there, and even if you loved it, having too much could ruin the special nature of this product. It's always better to be left wanting more, that fall into a routine of having just another snus. I'm quite happy with the can I got, and I'm very much looking forward to trying next years blend.
