Your favorites and what you are trying next

I was trying to go through my head to figure out my favorite snus' that I have tried so far, and some that seem to fit that same type that I am looking forward to trying. Then I figured I would put it in a thread so others can do the same, and maybe we can all get some feedback if one of those that is on our list may not be what we are looking for.

My favorites, in no particular order are:

    1. General Portion
    2. Gustavus Portion
    3. General Sterk Portion
    4. Level Portion
    5. Claq Qui (but too strong to use all the time)
    6. Nick and Johnny Strong Portion (also too strong to use all the time)

There is a definite trend of the "Tobacco with citrus" taste on my favorite list, along with some other "mostly tobacco with other mild natural flavors". Some of the ones I listed as really liking in my other thread have sank a bit after using them more (like Icefruit and GR No.2). Of all of them, General is my #1 favorite. So, here are some I am looking forward to trying (after I get through my first order, which is mostly made up of snus that are kind of "meh" to me):

    1. Knox Portion
    2. Skruf Original Portion
    3. Toboca Portion (not exactly like the others, but intriguing)
    4. N&J East White Portion (looking for an "all day" N&J Strong)
    5. LD White Portion
    6. Roda Lacket White Portion (looking for an "all day" Claq Qui)

Not gonna bother including types of portions, just the brands.

    1. General
    2. General Sterk
    3. Goteborgs Rape
    4. Goteborgs Rape #2
    5. Nick & Johnny
    6. Skruf Stark

Lots of others that I like as well, but those are the favorites. Almost all Swedish Match :P

Here's the ones I haven't tried yet, but I'm planning on it soon.

    1. Gotlands Julesnus (ordering tonight since they'll be out soon)
    2. Roda Lacket
    3. Claq Qui
    4. Grovsnus Svart
    5. Skruf Cranberry

I'll be ordering the Julesnus and Roda Lacket tonight. The others will have to wait til I have more cash :P

Wow, Skruf is popular lol. It makes me want to try it that much more. Also, sychodelix and Talneharus, your tastes seem to be close to mine. I think you will like the Julesnus, but appreciate the fact that it is only around once a year. I like it, and got two different brands, but am glad I won't be able to burn myself out on it (which I think would probably happen with just another can of either). Very interesting stuff though.

Also, I am interested in trying the Kronan after reading what has been said here and in MrAbstracto's los reviews. Most of my "want to try" snus have been picked out from just what is noted about their flavor on swedish-snus.com.

Level has been an odd one for me. At one point, it was thrown in my "I don't think I will ever use it" pile. I recently went back and tried it again, and realized that I liked it after I had it under my lip for about 3 or 4 minutes. The harsh initial taste faded away into something that was quite nice and mellow.

I am also interested in trying Montecristo. It definitely is not like the others on my favorite list, but I am interested in trying a "cuban cigar" style snus, like Mont or Romeo y Juleitta. Does anyone have anything to mention about these? I have always loved the way an expensive, unlit cigar smells but I came to dislike the taste of smoking them. Thanks!

If you find a place that will ship the Montecristo to the states let me know. Ive tried a few online stores and they wont ship it to the US because of the embargo on cuba

Skruf is definatly a good one in my book, but you gotta be ready for the hints of bergamot and rose which is stronger in portions than the los, but even for being my first snus it just wow'ed me. Its definatly a strong snus though so be ready for plenty of vitamin N. Ive already devour'd the the portions and im about half way through the los that came in my random roll!

Thanks for the heads up on the Julesnus, i got only one can coming i figured id use it nice and slow through out the winter and enjoy it and only order it once every december!

Im still ridding the fence on Level it was nice but after the 3rd portion it kinda got alittle to stout at the begginning of each pouch, might have another go with it.

My current favorites (in no particular order):

                    -Roda Lacket Claq Qui
                    -General Esktra Sterk
                    -Skruf Stark Loose
                    -Ettan Loose

                    I plan on trying:

                    -Pall Mall regular portions
                    -Lucky Strike regular portions
                    -General Loose
                    -Grov loose

To be honest, I could snus General Ekstra sterk for the rest of my life and be fine with it. However, I always get curious to see what other brands have to offer. General is probably the best all-around brand in my opinion. I met a guy from Europe at a show and he said "All other snus is complete ****!". I don't agree with the statement, but his zeal was quite humorous.

I agree with you jackolantern. I was almost hesitant to put the julesnus in my tob list because it is not something I could use all the time. I decided though that the flavor of it is so amazing and different that I couldn't leave it out. I am happy it only comes around once a year though because it will give me something to always look forward to.

I'm still too new but I pretty much like them all. Here's my current pick:

rl los (only los I have and love it)
                          ClaQ qui
                          Onyx
                          skruf stark
                          Lucky strike
                          LD
                          tre aknar
                          gr

But I love them all so far: ettan, grov, etc

Ouch, I did not know that it was real Cuban tobacco. Man, where is a Cuban revolution when you need one?

I agree (not with the guy, but being able to use General forever), except maybe regular General and not Ekstra Sterk lol. It was the first I tried, and still my real favorite. In a way, it is kind of disappointing, as I found General at a local store here in Houston and was hoping to find a real wow'er and some amazing stuff out of my first large order. On the other hand, it is kind of nice having a local store that carries a brand that I can use over and over forever

EDIT: Also worth noting to other General lovers is that Gustavus, at least to my newbie taste buds, is almost identical to General and costs a bit less. Not exactly a bargain brand, like some of the others, but for the cost-concerned snuser, it would be worth checking out if General's prices are waring on you.

                              Gottlandsnus Flader
                              Rape-least of the bunch,too piney/junipiry

                              Next round...
