snusjus, I am waiting for my first shipment of snuff, I promise to post here when i have tried it. I don't expect to use it when I am out and about, much like many folks don't use los accept at home. But from what I have learned, once i get the hang of it, i should get a much stronger nicotine kick from snuff then i ever do with snus. Lately, that just seems like a good option to ave. I haven't been smoking, but I have been feeling urges far more than i have in the past. So i am hoping snuff can help close that gap.

I'm excited to try it as well. With my next order, I will probably throw in a few cans of Toque Original (since I don't like flavored tobacco that much). I have read that nasal snuff provides a sharper hit of nicotine comparable to smoking a cigarette. I will post a review of nasal snuff when I try it, even though it may be a while, since I just received a 20 can order of snus. Tell which types of nasal snuff you like!

I have a stinking cold, so no snuff for me

I can't even manage snus at the moment because it makes my head spin.

ok, I've been a 4-8 portion a day snuser before trying snuff, and nasal snuff has it's ups and downs.... literally. the hit is very fast, and It's sublime in the morning or if you feel like a nap and can't have one.

however, by my estimation it dissipates rapidly(about 15-20 minutes). If you take another pinch, it lasts about an hour. That makes it worthwhile, but I feel the "crash" much harder than with snus. I cna go 3 hours or so without a snus and feel fine, If I was using only snuff, I would need a hit every hour(which would be pretty obnoxious).

of course it effects everyone differently and blah blah blah... but that's how it's working for me.

What I am hoping, is I can take a pinch to get that nicotine blast when I need, and then follow it with a nice white snus to keep myself happy over the next few hours.

Honestly, I feel like I am trying to thread a needle here. I am feeling a strong need suddenly for harder nicotine hits, but I don't want a roller coaster ride. But from what reading I have done, the snuff then snus seems to work for most folks.

I should have my snuff within the next few days, so we shall see.

Plus I figured that the Swedes (not meaning to insult anyone now) just aren't the most aggressive in trying new things. I mean, how much, other than Abba, have they really contributed to pop culture.

                  All things Swedish besides snus

                  Top ten Swedish inventions

                  1. The pacemaker

In 1958, Rune Elmqvist developed a small battery-driven pacemaker. The first operation was carried out later that year, but the device only lasted for a few hours and further adjustments were made. The patient, Arne Larsson, survived the tests and lived until 2001.

                  2. The three-point seat belt

Nils Bohlin’s great invention from 1959 is reputed to save one life every six minutes. It is thereby considered to be one of the most important safety innovations of all time.

                  3. The Global Positioning System

Håkan Lans is the great mind behind important developments to the satellite-guided GPS system, moulding it into its modern form and ensuring that motorists reach their destinations on time and without hassle.

                  4. Tetra-Pak

Through the ideas of Erik Wallenberg and his dedicated team, the solution to packaging, storing and distributing liquids such as juice and dairy items was developed in 1951 and has since spread to fridges all over the world.

                  5. The telephone handset

As early as 1885, Lars Magnus Ericsson created the telephone handset, which was just one of his many improvements to contemporary telephones.

                  6. The flat screen monitor

The building of the flat-screen monitor was made possible by Sven Torbjörn Lagervall’s discovery of ferroelectric liquid crystals in 1979. The technology was developed and in 1994 mass production was begun.

                  7. The ultra sound

In 1950, Hellmuth Hertz started his pioneering work with ultrasound for medical diagnosis. Together with cardiologist Inge Edler the technique was successfully developed for the analysis of heart diseases.

                  8. The safety match

In 1844, Gustaf Erik Pasch patented the safety match when he replaced the poisonous yellow phosphorus with non-poisonous red phosphorus.

                  9. Dynamite

Alfred Nobel invented dynamite in 1866, which earned him one of the 355 patents he had managed to assemble before his death in 1896. Through his life he founded 90 companies and made a huge fortune. In his will he set up the Nobel Prizes for physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace.

                  10. The zipper

The method still used today, based on interlocking teeth, was invented in 1913 by Gideon Sundbäck. Initially it was called the “hookless fastener” and was later redesigned to become more reliable

"That got me to thinking about why there are so many makers of snuff and SO many varieties compared to snus."

I think you have to include American dip in the snus family. At least in my limited knowledge, dip is a direct descendant of snus that simply evolved in a somewhat different direction. If you look at the tremendous popularity of dip on the American tobacco market, I think snus has been more influential than you might credit it with. Of course, I am leaving dip in favor of snus, so what do I know?

I actually wanted to try nasal snuff for work convenience! I talk too much to be able to have a portion in, and it would just be easier for me to step into the restroom and take a quick sniff and then go back out. There are two things I am worried about though:

                            1. It seems like it would be easy to do too much. I mean, you won't accidentally keep cramming portions or los in your mouth, just like you (normally) won't accidentally smoke too many cigarettes. And if you do, all you have to do is stop smoking, or take the snus out and you are fine. But if you sniff too much snuff, it is in your nose, and it is not going anywhere. How does this work for anyone who has tried it? Is it easy to know how much you are doing? How much do you typically do in one go?

                            2. Is it damaging to your nose? The inside of your mouth rapidly heals and replaces itself, but in comparison, your nasal passage is very sensitive.

I would really only be getting it for fast, discreet nicotine hits, since the ritual does not sound like it could be very satisfying for me. I could be wrong though!

                              1. I'm not sure what you mean by "too much". I think your nose would clog up before you OD'd on nicotine. You're not dealing with a large amount of tobacco when you snuff. I've never gotten any kind of nicotine buzz from nasal snuff(good thing, I'm not fond of nicotine high).

                              2. I imagine damage happens in some form or another. AFAIK it isn't health threatening in any way. There's people at snuffhouse.org that have been using large quantities of snuff for years, and they don't report any adverse affects.

You'll probably want to practice at home before taking snuffing to work if you're around people a lot. The usage is discreet, but sometimes large quantities of brown snot are produced :^D some brands are worse with this than others. I would say the most discreet snuffs are the Americans, and English toast snuffs.

It's cheap enough to try. If you want specific recommendations, I could give you a small list for a first order that'll give you a good idea of the range of snuffs.

As I have posted elsewhere, I just started using snuff on Friday and I am already in love. Takes a bit of practice and I tend to make a mess on myself so have ordered a bullet to make taking the snuff cleaner for me.

See my last post here for my latest thoughts on why I love it....

                                http://www.snuson.com/viewtopic.php?...r=asc&start=80

But I will say here. I love the fine control it gives me, Quick, strong hits of nicotine when I want it and I already love the ritual.

Try it at least, my first order was $12 from Toque. Already placed a 2nd order from Nicotinerush.
