    Looking for suggestions...

    Hi,

I recently tried some Skruf Original and to be honest, it did not agree with me. I think the problem was the bergamot.

What would you guys suggest as an alternative? I really do want to get into snussing!

I'd recommend starting off with the more plain flavors....

    General
    Ettan
    Grov
    Tre Ankare

Once you get those under your belt then move to some more flavored ones.

I've found that those are the most "plain" ones.

Also, you will find that I a day or two you start to develop "snuser senses" and can taste the more complex flavors.

General is a good starting point.

Ditto on General. It's also the easiest one to get, although from what I've been hearing lately, nothing is easy to get in Australia... :? You guys have nazis running your customs department.

I would suggest trying them all! It's fun. But I like most of them.

Out of the few brands I've tried, Lucky Strikes is the most 'plain' tasting.

Would original or white portion make a difference?

White portions don't have juiced added on the pouch, while regular portions do. If you want a "light" flavored snus, I would suggest trying out some white portions. However, once you have used snus for a while, you will prefer regular portions for more flavor.

                Regular White Portion:

                Regular Original Portion

Though I prefer regular portions on a daily basis, I can not say that I enjoy them more. The regular ones I use go better with beer and coffee than say a Got Rape #2 which is a wonderful portion if you are not eating or drinking something else.

I don't think it's a case of finding plain or fancy snuses - it's a case of finding what you do like. I'd be adventurous and go for a wide range of snus in an order so you can get an idea of what's out there.

Most of the "plain" snus is actually flavoured with some things and bergamot is quite a common one - for example General has it in there.

I'd try out some of these classic, but different ones:

                    Probe Whiskey
                    Roda Lacket (or Claq Qui)
Skruf Tranbar (or Goteborgs Rape no.2)
                    Jakobssons Icefruit
                    Goteborgs Rape
                    Gotlands Yellow
Nick & Johnny original or west
                    Ettan
                    Grov

These are kind of in the order "sweet and flavoured" to "plain tobacco" and they're the ones with no bergamot in them.

                    good Luck

I must add a shameless plug for the best regular portion of all time (hell of course it is my opinion) Retro.

Oh yeah, can't forget Retro. Love the juniper notes, nothing better with a martini.
