    When did Skruf go 45g?

Along with the Wise - I got some Skruf Stark los and the packaging seemed flimsier and smaller - I checked and it was a 45g measure like Swedish Match has been for a while.

Did this just happen recently? Or have I not been concentrating properly

Skruf sold out to big tobacco.

    http://www.skruf.se/

Go to "company" and page through to the end.

    Sad.

I wonder exactly when that happened...never heard anything about it.

They sure have a snazzy website, though!

Seems it started in 2005 when IT purchased 43.5% of Skruf. The page I read this on is: http://www.tobacco.org/news/206440.html

Seems that the person writing the article believes that snus is placed in the lower lip?

        a quote from the article:

"The British company, which makes Lambert & Butler cigarettes, Drum roll-your-own tobacco and Rizla rolling papers paid £6 million ($10.8 million or €8.9 million) and has a commitment to buy the balance of shares by mid-2009."

:? That's really strange. I got an order of Skruf stark los in last week and the cans are all still marked as 50g. I've double checked at Buysnus and Northerner and they both still advertise it as 50grams. Maybe drop Skruf or Buysnus/Northerner an email to hear what the deal is?

I've been buying knox over regular skruf stark lately so the question is, does it still taste the same? Never heard of the new size or any of this yet but I haven't bought skruf in a while.

I've done as you say and asked Northerner/Swedish-snus.com to explain why this was not advertised.

My can definitely said 45g on the sealing strip round the top so it's not as if Skruf are hiding it!

The news about imperial tobacco's take over is really disappointing though - and with seemingly instant results for the worse. To be honest I'd prefer my money to go to Swedish Match if they started making Nick & Johnny loose again - or any stark loose for that matter.

The can of Skruf Stark in front of me, which arrived a week and a half ago in roll form from BuySnus says 50g.

I dug out a can of Skruf loose, which by no means is new, it's 50.

I'm wondering if this is something only in Europe?

Squeezyjohn, you said you got a re-branded can of wise too in another thread. Could it be these changes are location specific? Like Phantom supposedly needing to be renamed for US sales.

I got a reply from Northerner about the 45g Skruf - they said that the change was the manufaturers ... at least I got the freshest can of the lot of you!

As for the Wise Citrus/Menthol this is what my can looks like:

I don't think it can be UK based marketing as they would be doing well to sell 50 cans a year here given that it's illegal to sell it. No - I think it's the new name given the Swedish health warning on the back. I tend to get deliveries about 3 days from ordering as communications with Sweden seem pretty good so maybe you've just got a load of new names & sizes coming your way next week US people.

                    Cheers
