So, as many of you long-timers know, I'm in the Navy, and I recently made a 70+ day patrol on my submarine. Due to getsnus.com's great shipping prices, I decided to just order 3 rolls of General los and call the deal done.
I was a bit apprehensive about going 2+ months with just one snus, but as I've said before, I love General los, so I told myself everything would be fine. Turns out that loose snus doesn't keep too well out at sea...I brought along my trusty thermoelectric fridge, and plugged it in in Sonar where I stand watch. It took some doing, but I jammed about 25 cans in there, and tried to get through the remaining 5 or so cans as fast as possible.
I ended up trashing about 3 of the unrefrigerated cans and moved on to the fridge stash. Well, after about 3 weeks, General's flavor began to get a bit mundane, but my nic fix was still fine, so I gutted it out.
Toward the end of patrol, I found out that one shouldn't store snus cans on their sides...they leak juice into the fridge. Let that be a lesson to you all...no cans on sides. Also, people weren't terribly mindful of making sure that the fridge was plugged in. The plug got kicked out several times, so the cans went unrefrigerated for long periods sometimes.
After General spoils, it still tastes relatively fine, but it turns out it has some, ah, undesirable gastrointestinal effects. For those of you who need to know, it tends to cause the runs...Not good.
My final verdict: Maybe next time I should go underway with some Redman FC Natural, or perhaps Timberwolf. Most of you know that these companies are owned by SM, so they conform to the GothiaTek standard and have very low TSNAs, and if I don't say so myself, they taste pretty decent. Very Copenhagen-esque...not quite as good as Cope, but for the price, pretty darn good. It says a lot of these dips that they emulate Cope taste, but for a fraction of the price. Turns out I can get 5 cans of Timberwolf for the price of 2 Copenhagen. $6.49 for 5 cans is pretty great, if I don't say so myself.
Sorry for the monster post, but I figured a long term study of a man in a 500 foot tube with nothing but 30 cans of General might be interesting to you guys (and girls). Thoughts? Comments?
