Hello everyone!

I feel I know a few of you after reading through the forums for a few days. I myself am new to Snus. I started with a curiousity after seeing the Camel Snus cans. I tried it, didn't think it was bad on taste (I also grew up on Koolaid, Tang, Crystal Light etc so am used to artificial flavors) but I did agree as many that it was not the nicotine dose I needed.

I am a 23 year user of cigarettes, about a pack a day, up until yesterday when I received my first can of General Wintergreen. I haven't smoked since about 5pm yesterday although my free can from Getsnus.com almost turned me off. I didn't mind and actually appreciated the salt and tobacco but the medicinal wintergreen, tastes like I just squirted ben gay or icy hot into my mouth, almost made me rethink my decision to go the harm reduction route.

Luckily, after reading many posts I had decided I couldn't wait to try other brands so I ordered my first order on Sunday and received that today. Now I have the luxury of trying many others. Below is my first order and yes there is a lot of V2 but as I have read many posts, you either like it or you don't and I figured I many as well kill the cat and get my curiousity out of the way:

2 cans General Mini Mint Portions (my friend at work had gotten the free can when we started investigating and my wife decided she like them after trying to tell me no to even starting :lol: )

1 can Offroad American Wintergreen Portion (I tired this first to see the difference with the General and I actually like this....or can tolerate this better)

1 can Offroad Cranberry Portion(The tartness of this is a nice change from the wintergreen flavor over the last 24 hours. It almost seems to come through with a slight tea flavor as well,)

1 can Offroad Coffee/Vanilla Portion

1 can Offroad Icemint Portion (Praying this is a better mint than the Wintergreen)

1 can Offroad Liqourice Portion

1 can General Mini White Portion (My free mystery can)

1 can Jakobsson's Ice Fruit Portion (My wife tells me it tastes like juicy fruit gum. I like juicy fruit so I'm sure I'll like this.)

1 can Roda Lacket Portion (Too many decent reviews to not have ordered.)

I'm sure it is obvious from my first order that I am rather new but I have found the boards very helpful. I just wasn't sure how I was going to like the standard tobacco flavors. I have never chewed before so was a little apprehensive and I will probably spend some time with the portions before I go the loose route on any.

I do want to say thank you for these forums as they have been helpful in making the decision to want to quit smoking and opt for what so far is much more enjoyable.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

I'm always glad to see a new snuser convert from cigarettes as I did myself 8 or so months ago. I'm also glad to see your choice of Jakobssons Ice Fruit; that stuff is really great!

Welcome Maximus! I'm pretty new as well and I've been off cigarettes since I got my first order of Swedish snus. It's only been fifteen days, but it's the easiest quit I've ever had. Hang in there and good luck.

That Icy Fruit is pretty good. But it can kind of wear on you if it's the only one you're using. I'd suggest keeping the icy fruit kind of 'on the side' and just have one for every 4+ portions of whatever else you have open. Just my opinion on the stuff.

Welcome to the forum Maximus. I'm not new, but I guess my post count gives that away. :wink:

One thing I noticed. You ordered all flavored snus. I would encourage you on your next order to try some more traditional snus. general is always a great place to start. About 70% of Swedish customers just use that. Ettan, Lucky Strike, Retro, Knox, Nick & Johnny for more of a kick, Te new V2 Thunder for the best kick out there. ALL good!

But ya gotta try those too. You might be surprised just how good they are.

Do let us know what you like and don't like about your first order. Will elp us make even other suggestions for you.

And I have been using snus for almost 2 years. Gave los a good try but always preferred portions significantly. haven't had any los in almost a year now. Use what you like, there is no right or wrong way about snus.

Welcome Maximus, loved you in Gladiator. I also would recommend you get some more traditional flavored snus's but there's nothing wrong with anything you ordered. If you do end up liking the Roda Laket then definitely try some General and others. Good luck.

Welcome Maximus. Always good to have another Minnesotan onboard. My first snus after having Camel snus was Grov. It was so robust and salty that I too had to think twice about my decision to get off cigs with snus. Now I love grov so much I sprinkle some on my pancakes in the morning, j/k. But I do love it, and have grown to appreciate all the flavors in the various snus. Don't feel you have to find one snus and stick to it like we did with cigarettes. The fun of snus is in the variety, it's the spice of life!

Ok, so day 2 and I am starting to adjust flavor wise. I am realizing I do enjoy the cleaner more standard tobacco flavors and do not necessarily need the "american" flavors.

I had one of the General Mini portions (my free mystery can) and really enjoyed it. I did also enjoy the RL and have decided my next order will probably be more like General White portions, Skruf, Ettan etc that will be more of the standard flavors.

As far as the Offroad love/hate relationship I see often on here, I can only say I'm still in counselling with some of the flavors and it remains to be seen if those relationships will remain. I will definitely give them a fair shake but I feel that some may not make it through the immunity trials.
