Look, Getsnus is just one of several companies that have recently come about trying to cash in on the growing popularity of snus. More power to them I say. I have zero issues with that. The over eager cheer leading by a few here, cause they either saved a dime or shaved one day off their shipping time just amuses me, even when I mutter about folks lack of loyalty. but again, every person here gets to choose who they do business with.

What HAS set me off is Getsnus recent decision to start a snus forum. Unlike businesses, competition among forums is a BAD thing, it only dilutes and separates information.

I don't know why they felt a need to do this. I have heard ( i was missing around here for several months) that Getsnus, when they first started, were posting here but folks had to step up and ask them not to keep spamming us. There is a difference between active participation and just using a forum to push their products. My guess is that they felt insulted by that, and started their forum as a place to push themselves.

My problem with this is several fold. One, I see NO reason for another snus forum. Snuson does an amazing job, is fair to everyone, and has an international presence. i am so grateful for my friends here from Germany, Sweden, and all over the world. I get to learn new things, such as a special Lucky Strike that is only sold in South Africa for example. A forum by an American company that only sells in America would certainly not attract that type of readership.

More importantly, I view it as an attack on us and an attempt to lure current Snuson participants away. Given that I have found this site to be one of the two best forums, ON ANY subject, I have ever had the pleasure of participating in, that just makes me angry. And from another angle, I think they are perhaps misleading people who find their forums and don't know we exist. Have you read the rules of their forum?? Discussing ANY competing websites is against the rules. So we could NOT have this conversation there talking about Snuson the way we are talking about Getsnus here. Plus, I would not be allowed to recommend you going to Buysnus to purchase a product that Getsnus doesn't carry, as I am not allowed to mention Buysnus.

That is just wrong, and goes against EVERYTHING forums should be about, the free flow of information. And what if you had stumbled onto Getsnus when you first were looking up snus, found their forum, and not bothered looking any more. you would have no reason to know we existed, and would have missed out on a far better venue for learning about snus. instead, you would just be listening to the blind leading the blind (apologies if any of you participate there too) You wouldn't even know there was snus out there that Getsnus doesn't bother carrying. What ashame that would be, you would have been lesser for it.

And this is not just an academic issue for me. I have been active in online communities that predate the web, back to my old BBS days. I have seen online communities break apart when some folks thought they could do it better, and led a split. Often, EVERYONE lost when that happened.

I have more posts here than everyone but three others. I have given everything I have for Snuson, taken the time to answer hundreds of newbie questions, and believe I have done it quite well, But with that tenure comes responsibilities, and sometimes, it means being a bit harsh with the truth. For me, this is one of those times.

i first came across getsnus and their forum ...then i found this one later in the day....having only been a member of this forum for somewhere near a week....i am sticking with snuson as it is WAY!!!!!!! more informative and everybody here is quick to give an opinion and help...this is the forum for me and i pledge my allegiance from this day forward 8)

8 different snus, of which Getsnus carries only 2 of them. So when Getsnus decides it wants to be a serious player and actually carry what I use, give me a call. And I feel REALLY sorry for someone who only finds their forum, cause they would never know about the 6 snuses above that Getsnus doesn't bother carrying. Nor could I tell someone that Buysnus (or Northerner) does. Just really sad to me

And yea, I was trying to be faithfull to Northerner and Buysnus also, but I can get 5 xtra tins plus its less $. thats alot to pass up. As far as their forum goes......well this one is enough for me, thank you.

Huh, didn't know they had their own forum. I don't see much reason to go any other since this one has plenty of quick input and good info. Quite a shame there was a split like that. =(

LOL, not really a split, just Getsnus starting their own. I suspect it will never really take off. I have NO reason to think Getsnus could damage Snuson, we are way too dominant for that. But still the fact that they would do it means they are no longer a company I have ANY interest in supporting. I think it was just rude, My not so humble opinion.

And you have been an absolute pleasure to have, so I am very glad you did find us. :wink:

And PP, I am really down with you saving money. We all know you have VERY specific tastes in snus. So it doesn't surprise me Getsnus can take care of you as well as they do. But yeah, I thought a bit of perspective would be a good thing. The holes in what Getsnus carries one could drive a Mack truck through. Until, or IF, they ever fix that, they won't get any of my business OK, I suppose I would find them a reason to throw some business their way if they would only close their stupid forum. I find it poor form to not reward a business when they finally see the light and correct past transgressions.

EDIT....Just had to add this. take a look at this thread on their forum 17 replies to a thread titled What are your top 3 go to. And of course, it is kinda limited cause no one even seems to know about any snus that Getsnus doesn't carry. Sad, and it just angers me as those poor souls don't even know what they are missing.

I had to go and check the forum at getsnus and this is what I think:

They are an integrated site (many interests such as selling snus, news, and a small forum). Their main function appears to be selling snus, whereas snuson appears to be a professional single-purpose site dedicating all efforts to its main function which is the FORUM. I believe snuson is and will be the main forum on snus. I’d like to support getsnus since they are an American business and also by doing so I am also supporting the Swedish companies since that is where the merchandise is coming from, but like others I would like to see them provide more products and also would like to see them stay in business for a while before I become a devout customer.

Back to the original topic; I ordered a sample tin on Sunday and it came on Wednesday. I am just about to place another order. If their shipping is always this fast I will keep ordering from them because I am impatient and enjoy instant gratification.

I'm working on my first stash of snus. I just started "snus-ing" last week after getting a free tin of Camel frost with my cigarette purchase. I already love it! The General I got for free from GetSnus is way better than Camel, but I have to say I do enjoy the sweetness of the Camel contrary to the other opinions on this site.

I've been a pack a day smoker for 20 years and after less than a week have cut down to five or less cigarettes a day. I'm diving headlong into this new addiction having ordered ten from northerner.com, seven from getsnus.com and picked up a couple more of the Camel variety. I have to say Northerner has a much greater selection and I will probably only use GetSnus for specials, small orders (because of the cheap shipping), or if my stash is getting low and I need some right away. I'll try buysnus.com next time.

I always loved the sweetness of Camel too. And for over a year, always had at least one can of Spice buried in my refrigerator. problem with Camel is simply not a god enough nicotine kick. But I am old school. Came to snus long before Camel even existed. So for me, it was always just a strange addition to the snus family.

As I have posted over and over. Don't stress on the cigarette thing at all. Just let snus work it's magic. Soon, you won't even feel like one. I think for me, it was about a month that I was still doing both. then one day, simply stopped buying more, But I too fell headlong into my snus addiction from day one. Took about 2 months to really learn what I liked. From there, I have never looked back!!

I'm a terrible procrastinator and know I will one day look in the fridge and find only one can left. I've been smoking for so long and one should expect I'd never run out, but I still find myself cursing because I wake up and have only one cigarette left. Now, I just ran out of caffeine (energy drinks) and my wife has the car. Damn it! :roll:

Placed overall about five orders with Getsnus and all came within 3 mailing-days. My last order was placed on a Sunday night and came the following Saturday. 6 mailing days!
I was so angry I ended up opening the package and putting a snus under my lip.
