    How has your taste changed?

When I started snusing I bought a tin of Skruf Stark and Gustavas Original Portion. I liked it, and decided to order something different next. I love the taste of anis, so I got M by Mocca Anis, Gotlandsnus Grey, Skruf Stark, and General Sterk. I found I loved Mocca's Anis and not so much General's citrusy flavor. Then I found another flavor I enjoyed: Catch Eucalyptus.

The next two orders I tried something new, but Mocca's Anis and Catch Eucalyptus were in each order. But then I tried Ettan and Grov, and have found I can't do anything with anis in it anymore and I'm enjoying the Ettan quite a bit. Maybe burning out from having Mocca's Anis so much? But I still enjoy Catch Eucalyptus.

In any case, I'm finding I enjoy the straight smokey character of Ettan quite a bit, as much or more than I've enjoyed any other snus I've had so far, and much more than the Copenhagen I used to dip because it isn't so sweet.

It reminds me of when I smoked cigars. My friend Mike gave me an Acid, I think the Blondie, which is flavored sweetly. I know, don't laugh, a lot of people don't consider them real cigars and shun them. But I found I liked it at the time. Until I tried Arturo Fuente, then Romeo y Julieta, and Padron. I still enjoy the latter two from time to time, actually.

Tastes develop and change. From something sweet and easy for someone new towards the morestraight up tobacco character with no bells and whistles. Or for others it could be the other way around, preferring some spice with theirs. Either way it's an interesting journey.

My tastes have changed a lot. When I first started, my freezer was awash with "flavored" snus. Now the only one I like is Skruf Tranbar. The rest are dominant tobacco brands.

Changing tastes are famous here in the forums. It seems to happen with most people here on the forums. That is why, when someone doesn't like something, you will often see people saying to try it again in a few months, they might love it.

I have had many small changes. Snus I didn't like, I came to like. Snus I once loved, suddenly I didn't. The two most significant changes: Almost a year into using snus, I suddenly couldn't handle regular portions any more. The taste just started coming too strong, and I have switched over to mostly whites. I also used to switch between flavored and unflavored snus all day long. Just over the past few months, almost all flavored snus has turned on me. My last order was ONLY various traditional type snus, my first order like that ever!!

For me the shift occured about six months ago. Since then 90% of my orders have consisted of a combination of my top five with a new product thrown in once in a while to see what its like.

Actually, I think I would be happy if I just had to use my top five for the rest of my life.

At first, my favorites were Roda Lacket and General loose. Then Gotland Anis was my top favorite. I got tired of the bitterness of that and got more into the plain tobaccos (Ettan, Grov, General, Roda). I've tried tons of different snuses and the ones that have now been my favorite for the longest are Phantom Classic and OR Cranberry. As far as flavor profiles, my favorite is the tobacco/citrus/pepper (General, Granit, Phantom Classic). Cranberry is a flavored snus, but is subtle with a predominant tobacco taste and smooth cranberry undertone that puts it in a category of its own in my opinion. What's really weird is that when I use skruf stark loose now, it tastes pretty plain and I can't taste the bergamot very well like I used to... and it was the first snus I ever tried too.

I'm of the opinion that all snus is flavored, it's just a question of what flavor or flavor profile. Some are more subtle, granted, but all of them have at least some flavorings it seems.

One of the insiders that posts here confirmed just what you said. All snus is flavored. Otherwise it would just be horribly bitter.

That's cool to hear, Rob. It definitely makes sense.

I always liked plain tobacco flavor or something with a small hint. I love Roda Lacket and General, but my favorites are probably Lucky Strike and Ettan.
