I tried Ettan regular portion and didn't like it

Maybe it was the woody/smoky flavor or something else that I can't determine but I could only handle 15 mins both times I tried. I also sneezed both times I put it in so maybe something in there doesn't agree with my body.

Do you know what other snus are similar in flavor to ettan so I know to stay away from them?

I'd throw Ettan in the same tub as say:

    General
    Lucky Strike
    Pall Mall
    Rhoda Lacket
    Tre Ankare
    PM 1847

Ettan is more of a staight tobacco and salt with minimal flavorings added.

Most of the above do have subtly different flavors, they all have a base tobacco flavor.

I am sure there are more, those are just the ones I know intimately.

      BLASPHEMER!

I wouldn't be so quick to write off all similar snus. It might be something specific to Ettan.
N&J original makes me sneeze sometimes, I love it still. General portion has an unpleasant effect on my throat one in a while, but Grov doesn't. SO My advice is try others and find out.

Put it down for a few days, and then try it again. there has been more than one snus that I didn't like when i first tried them, and then days later, it was my new favorite. Just the way of snus.

I like Ettan white a lot so I figured that if I liked the white I'd love the original. I ordered a roll without trying it, and to my dismay I couldn't stand that liquid smoke flavor that they put on the pouches :x . That is when I decided to never purchase a roll of snus until I've finished at least two cans.

However, over time I've gotten used to the flavor of the original portions, and I find them just a little more than tolerable now. I plan to slowly finish the roll, but I doubt I'll buy another one...

Ettan portions have a taste of their own. The loose is very close to a lot of other flavors, but the portions have a strange overpowering flavor IMO. I love the loose but hate the portions, and I like just about everything.

I also sneezed couple of times with Ettan portions, I think it was when the juices started going down the throat, two of the times I was laying down when sneezed.

Ah, one of the reasons I haven't invested in a roll yet. Haven't tried enough snuses to really pin down what I'd really buy a roll of. I'd set it aside for a few days and try it again like sagedil said. At first Grov didn't appeal to me, but now I've come to enjoy it. The opposite happened with General Wintergreen. At first I was iffy about it, then thought I liked it, but now that my taste is more for straight tobacco it's too sweet for me.

I would not lump General in with Ettan, even if they are both more traditionally flavored. I also could not take Ettan but my absolute favorites have been the General Sterk and E/S varieties.

Me agrees with the above, the liquid smoke is a bit much. I have the same problem with General portions but neither General los or Ettan los seem to have as much smoke additive. With Lucky Strike portions my throat feels like I have been smoking if I use it all day.

I got an urge to throw Ettan into my last order after having more or less written it off in the beginning. Tastes definitely do change. While it's not on my top 5, or maybe even top 10, it's a pretty mellow and enjoyable snus in my opinion. I do not associate its unique flavor with liquid smokiness at all though. I find the taste to be distinctly nutty  And I find it much less salty than I would prefer, but I seem to be alone on that one.
