    Quick reviews

Well, I commented on these portions earlier, but it was a quick summary. Here's a little more in depth now that I've had a couple portions of them. I'll probably add more later.

    Knox
It's a cheaper snus, but you really couldn't tell at all. The portions are all fairly well filled, and the taste and quality is pretty damn good. It smells a little flower, which makes sense since it has rose oil, and tastes like lemons and oranges. The citrus flavor is dominant, and it's not strong, but it's not mellow either, kind of the middle road there. I had it with Sprite the first time, and the flavors matched well. This morning I found some Lipton tea (meh, but beggers can't be choosers) and it went really well together. I wouldn't mind this with southern sweet tea at all during the hotter months. Low priced, nice citrus flavor, nice quality. A good bang for your buck.

    Lucky Strike White
Salt and pepper. And nice. At first it was more pepper than I'd have liked, but this second portion is growing on me. A lot, actually. It's got quite a bit of quality to it, and I'm surprised that it costs less than a tin of General. The flavor is a robust spicy pepper and tobacco, and one that lasts for a while. Already an hour into this portion and it's as strong as when I first started it. I'd pair this with a strong drink, otherwise it'd overpower it. Strong coffee, or a strong spirit would probably do well. Though the Coke I'm drinking it with isn't doing too bad either.

    Ettan Original
Mellow and strait up tobacco. It's not a powerful flavor compared to something like Lucky Strike, but it sure is delicious. I taste nothing but mellow, slightly sweet tobacco with a hint of leather in it. It's easily my go to snus for now because the flavors aren't so bold or complex and I don't need to think about what I'm tasting to enjoy it. Goes well with just about anything, though stronger flavored drinks may overpower it. Usually I have this with some light coffee (a little cream and sugar).

    Grov Original
Mellow and strait up tobacco. It's a little more robust than Ettan, but a little sweeter. cocsp2002 described it with a slightly chocolaty flavor, and I'm inclined to agree. It's quickly getting up there with Ettan for me, and I'm wishing I ordered more with my last order, but there's always next time. This goes well with just about everything I've had as well, especially coffee in the morning.

    Catch Eucalyptus
I still enjoy these from time to time to mix things up. This used to be my absolute favorite before I tried traditional snuses like Ettan. It's definitely a flavored snus with little or no tobacco flavor to it. The eucalyptus is difficult to really describe. It isn't minty, though it feels that way on your gums and lip, but it's a sweeter flavor. Not sugary sweet, mind you, but sweeter. Not something to have coffee or anything bitter with; the flavors clash horribly. But Sprite or Coke or tea works well.

    General Sterk
Strong tobacco with citrus and pepper. The citrus flavor dominated for me, followed by a swift kick of spicy pepper. The nicotine buzz was great, starting quickly and mellowing along the ride. It's a robust blend, like Lucky Strike, but the citrus dominated more than the pepper for me. It's definitely a top notch brand and blend, but I prefer something without the citrus/spice mix. I can definitely see why it's a popular brand, though.

    Skruf Stark
I really don't know how to describe this one. It was a strong spicy blend of tobacco, and a little flowery. That's the best I can put it. It gave a stronger buzz than General Sterk did, and it was one hell of an introduction into snus. Really, though, the flavor was too much for me, so if you like mellower snus you may want to pass on it. But it's something well worth trying if you're looking to branch out.

    M by Mocca Anis
Another flavored snus. It's strongly scented of anis, and well flavored too. You don't taste the tobacco, just anis. Reminded me of drinking arak on New Years with my family, but with less bitterness. A more expensive brand, but one I enjoyed quite a bit. If you like the taste of anis, then try this one out if you haven't. You won't be disappointed in the least.

    Gotlandssnus Gråsnus (Grey)
Another anis flavored snus. The scent was a little stronger, and a little stronger than Mocca's. However, this one has the trademark Gotland bitterness after a while. I preffered Mocca more because of the bitterness, but it's got a big fan base for that trait. Give it a shot. It's definitely high quality snus.

    Gustavus
This had a very unique flavor to it. It was a flowery and light, and very flavorful. While I'm not much for flowery flavored snuses this was pretty damn good. The flavor lasted me two hours, and still had plenty left to go. Again, give it a shot.

    Göteborgs Rapé No2
Either love it or not. While I wasn't for it, it's a snus that really is top notch. The flavors are sweet, with a complex blend. I didn't taste the red berries much, but I could definitely taste the lingonberries. It's a robust blend of flavors that lasts for a good while.

    Elixyr Peppermint
A mint flavored snus, plain and simple. These start strong with the peppermint flavoring and fades after an hour. After an hour you get a little tobacco flavor but the mint still lingers. This was a little rough on me after that first hour, and I prefer Catch Eucalyptus over it. While it isn't bad, I'll pass on this one in favor of Catch for something flavored.

    Nordströmmen Julesnus
I haven't a clue what mulled wine tastes like, so I can't compare how well it took to the flavor. What I will say is that it tasted like red whine with some spices added to it, and the flavor was strong. This was something I kicked back with a glass of red wine in the evening and relaxed with my darlin' when I was at home for Christmas break. Lasted a couple hours, probably a little longer if I wanted.

I'll have some more Retro later and post on it.

I'm usually suprised by the ways in which folks describe Grov. To me it is nothing but pure tobacco and a lot of salt. Mmm salty delicious Grov.

Nice reviews, btw. I find that most of you are able to detect so many more subtle and unique flavors that I can with snus. I guess all that smoking really blew out my tastebuds. My ability to detect and describe flavors is pretty much limited to salty, nutty, flowery, minty and licorice.

Give the Goat Rape 2 another try. I hated it at first, being more of a tobacco taste purist, but grew to love it down the road. I probably only use one can a month though, but when I want something different, this one is amazing IMO. And don't give up on the Skruf either! I think it's damn near perfect.

I got used to looking into the flavors from smoking cigars and pipes. There's a lot of nuances in them that you can pick up with some time and practice, and it carries over to all things I taste, whether I like it or not. I may try Skruf and Göteborgs again later, but for now I'm not much for the flowery flavors.

Once again, I don;t detect any floweriness in Skruf either. May a touch or rose with the Original portions, but not with the Stark. I would assume any straight tobacco enthusiast like myself would love Skruf. Funny, Ssnus is like food! Everyone interprets the same thing quite differently. Ahhhh, snus. Snus for the win.

Big x2 on the Ettan and Grov Original. They are the only snus that makes my brain go yummm every time they're in my mouth.
