Thunder loose smells weird after a few days

sorry you misunderstood my statement.

NOT in snus as if it was "added to the batch"

it is a byproduct of the process.

snus is regulated like food.

if it is a byproduct why is this not documented anywhere. At least I can find no official documentation to state this fact.

So if this is the case show me or point me to said documentation.

The only mention of ammonia I can find is in American Tobacco. It is added to make nicotine more addictive.

If this is the case with Snus it is more prevalent in Thunder snus than any other therefore V2 are behaving just like some of the more evil american tobacco companies.' and I will never use their products again.

Would V2 care to comment on this?

Snus that is really fresh smells like ammonia sometimes. Snus that gets really old smells like ammonia sometimes.

It doesn't mean they deliberately ramped up the "addictiveness" it's just the way it is. What's the best by date from your roll? I'm guessing it's real far out right?

I seriously doubt anyone is in collusion to harm us. Especially not by intentionally having their product smell like piss.

There is a whloe thread about this on snuffhouse.org. Tobacco, whether it be snuff or snus has amonia that comes off it when it is newly processed. With snuff, just wait a bit, and it goes away. Common for folks to get freaked out about it when they first smell it in snuff.

On the tins I received from northerner the first batch had on the tins I looked at use by dates of may 2009 so within 3 months. The thunder snus is dated use by 29/7/09 so within 5 months. It was refrigerated and half of the roll frozen on delivery. It took 4 days to arrive from Sweden.

In that thread there is only 1 post from a guy states that his snus also smells of ammonia, he could be guy like me.

But with Snuff the guy at S Gawith implied to me that it is added to snuff not just a byproduct.

I read it more that there is some ammonia vapors that come out in the process of manufacturing that dissapates. They did talk about the fact that American tobacco companies do add it to theirs but that there is some ammonia that comes out just in processing the leaves.

As I said no other snus I tried smelled like this, apart from a tin of gerneral portion that I left out of the fridge for over a week and it got old.

However thunder snus is the only really strong snus I have used so if this is normal with strong snus then why does not montecristo which is 11mg smell as bad, infact I can not smell any ammonia in it all.

I guess If I order general extra sterk and the new oden I can compare.

So using smelly snus will make your breath smell like piss. That will attract the ladies.

I remember the heavy ammonia smell in General when I first started using snus....I can honestly say that I have not been able to detect it since. I'm sure it's still there, but I guess I'm just used to it....

I can't believe it. I opened a new can of thunder loose. It smelled ok. So totest this i left the lid off for 30 mins and then the ammonia smell came out.

I have not put this one back in the fridge and each day the ammonia smell gets stronger and stronger and never clears.

So today I was on the tube (underground train for those that dont know London) coming home from a job. I needed some snus so opened the thunder put it on my knee opened whilst I got my icetool from my pocket and the stench of the ammonia was strong enough to be overpowering even from where it sat on my knee.

This cant be right.

I admit its the only extra sterk snus I have. But 8 other brands I have used never smelt like this apart from one older can of gerneral portion that I forgot to put in the fridge and then it was not as overpowering as thunder.

despite those that say this is problem is a natural bi-product it does not seem right to me. So will no longer purchase this crap.

If anyone wants the 5 cans I have in the freezer they are welcome to them.

If you send me your address I can pack them up and send them off. Just a thought is it best to defrost them prior to packing them before shipping them to avoid condensation. They are currently in ziplock bags and the air sucked out and in the freezer so condensation may not be a problem i dont think. $10 should cover a reasonably fast shipping from London.

I would also appreciate if you could let me know if you have the same experience with them as I did or not as the case maybe.
